SCORPIUS'S POV-

I woke up the next morning feeling slightly better. My legs throbbed less then before and the burns on my arms weren't as red and irritated. I rolled on to my side to see that Rose was still sleeping. She lay with her arm propped up on a pillow and her fiery red hair covering her face. I smiled. She looked so peaceful. It was still hard to believe we were really safe. But Lucius was still out there waiting. He was probably plotting his revenge and waiting to take us again. But right now, that didn't matter. What mattered was that we're safe. At least for the time being.

I tore my eyes away from the spot on the wall I was staring at when I heard a noise. I turned my head to the right to see it was just Rose yawning. She had sat up and was currently stretching. She looked over at me and her face broke into a grin. I noted that she looked healthier. The bags under her eyes were now non-existent and the bruises and cuts she was covered in were starting to fade. "Hi." She said as she got up. She climbed into my bed and snuggled into my side. "Well hi yourself." I said as I planted a kiss on her forehead. We talked for a while about unimportant things. That's when I brought up the subject I knew had been bothering her.

"So do you think they're going to let us go back to school?" I asked. "Finally! I've been waiting for someone to mention it! We've already missed so much between staying here for Al and Lucius. I bet if we really study hard we could probably be fine for N.E.W.T.s. If you're going to be a healer and I'm going to work at the ministry then we'll be fine. We just need to ask how much longer we're going to be in here." She rambled. "But that's the thing. After all of this I'm trying to decide whether or not I still want to be a healer." I said nervously. She looked appalled. "Well what else would you be?" She asked. "Well I was thinking maybe an auror." I said sheepishly. Her face broke into an ear splitting grin. "You'd be great at that!" She said enthusiastically. "I guess. But it's a little to late to change professions isn't it?" I asked. "Are you kidding me? My Uncle's the head of the whole bloody department! And after all we've been through I don't think it would be too hard to change." She said confidently.

"You're probably right. We'll just talk to him about it the next time we see him." I said. She nodded. "So how was talking to your parents again?" She asked. "It was great actually. I'm just glad their ok. We talked about everything but Lucius. I could tell it was a sensitive subject with my dad. I get it though. Finding out that your father tortured your son must really suck." I said. "I wouldn't doubt it." She said. Her face suddenly fell. "Do you think Lily's ok?" She asked. "I mean, I know what she did was unforgivable and all but she's still my cousin and I love her. I just keep thinking, what if she's dead." She said quietly. Getting over my initial shock I started to understand. I never had much family of my own. My grandma's sister Andromeda passed away a few years ago and my mom's sister never married. So besides my parents, Teddy is the closest thing to family I have. If any thing ever happened to him or my parents I'd be crushed. Even if Lily did do an awful thing she's still Rose's family.

I took a deep breath knowing that what I was about to say would be harsh but true. "I honestly have no idea. We need to understand that it wouldn't be hard for Lucius to kill her. And I know that it's hard to understand but it's just the harsh reality. We both know what he's capable of and no matter how awful it is it's the truth." I finished feeling like an awful person.

"Your'e right." She said simply. I looked down at her to see a single tear sliding down her cheek. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. It was awful and cruel." I said in a rush. She smiled. "Don't be sorry. I wanted the truth and you gave it to me. If I'd asked anyone else they'd have sugar-coded it and said she was fine. But you told me the truth and that's why I love you."She concluded.

I kissed her forehead. "So back to the subject of professions, do you really think I'd be a good auror?" I asked starting to second guess myself. "Of course! You've always been the best in our year when it comes to potions and your'e brilliant at DADA and transfiguration. Sure, your charms might be a little rusty but we can work on it! You're aware your'e going to have to go through 3 years of training right?" She asked. "Yes." I sighed. "It's going to be awful but after what Lucius did to us I want to make sure nobody else goes through the same thing." I said.

She smiled. All of a sudden Al and Alice came in through the door hand in hand giggling like maniacs. "Oh you two are awake!" Said Alice happily. "Yeah and if weren't your entrance would have done the job." I said sarcastically. "Oh whatever. So how are you guys feeling?" Asked Albus. "Better I guess. My arm still really hurts." Answered Rose. "Yeah. I guess I feel better too. But my legs and my head are killing me." I complained. "Any news on Lily?" Asked Rose hopefully. "No." Albus said shortly. "What he means to say is yes. We got an owl today that only said "I'm sorry." He's not feeling very forgiving though." Alice explained. Albus rolled his eyes. "I meant what I said Alice. There's no new news. At least not any that matters to me." He said with a huff. "Come on mate. She's your sister." I exclaimed. "It doesn't matter. The second she decided to betray all of us she sacrificed our relationship."

"Al you don't mean that!" Protested Rose. "But I do! She attacked me. She betrayed you. She tortured Scorpius. How is that forgivable? Everyone else tries to make excuses for her but they shouldn't. They all need to accept she's a failure, a disappointment, and not who we thought she was."

We all sat shocked at his words. What he said is almost the same as what Rose had said earlier. But there was a difference. Rose showed sympathy and love. But Al had no mercy. It's like all of his love for Lily had disappeared and had been replaced with hatred.

"So how is everyone else?" I asked trying to change the subject. "Good I guess. Mum and Dad are still really upset about.......well, you know. Everyone else just seems to be happy you two are safe." Al said. "Anymore news on Lucius?" asked Rose. "Not that we know of." Said Alice. "Aurors are looking everywhere but so far nothing." She finished. A sudden feeling of anger swept over me. "As soon as I get out of here I'm going after him." I said. They all looked at me shocked. "What about school? We just talked about it!" Cried Rose. "Well I guess I changed my mind." I stated. "Scorp, I get you want to get back at him, but you can't let it drive you insane! Finish school. Become an auror. Live your life. Don't let Lucius ruin everything we could have!" She pleaded. Her words echoed in my ears.

"...what we could have!"

It killed me. All I wanted was her. To live a happy normal life with her. But knowing that my deranged grandfather was out on the loose possibly killing others could stop all of this. "Rose, I need to go after him." I said desperately. It was like all the sense I had and the plans I had just made had been washed away by the sense of need. The need to stop him. Al and Alice quietly backed out of the room most likely sensing a fight brewing.

Tears were starting to gather in her eyes. "Scorpius, please. Let the aurors handle it." She begged. "Rose please understand." I pleaded. "How can I?" She said in a voice so quiet I could barley hear it. "How would you feel if Arthur started hurting people you love? Wouldn't you feel the same way?" I asked.

"I don't know! Maybe! But I would let the aurors handle it." She said as a tear streamed down her face. "I'm sorry Rose. But either way I'm going after him. Are you going to help me or not?" I asked. "Of course I'm going to help you you bloody idiot! I love you. How could I not help? No matter what you do I'm going to be right there with you!" She cried.

I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her towards me. Our lips collided. "I love you." I said between kisses. She smiled against my lips and entangled her hands in my hair. She was mine and I was hers. And I knew that whatever these next few months held, she would be right there with me.
