9. Date Night

“Richard…..this restaurant is really nice, you really didn’t need to pick something so fancy,” Kara said quietly.

“I wanted too, you deserve a fancy restaurant,” he replied.

She sighed shaking her head, “I’m paying for my share,” she replied.

“No your not,” he stated simply.

“Richard, each plate is like twenty bucks, I’m not allowing you to spend money on me! We aren’t even really dating!” she said shocked.

“It’s my treat, think about it as a going away present,” he replied still glancing over the menu.

She sighed mumbling to herself, “Kara, you’re special, you’re the first girl I’ve ever respected and actually cared for. I trust you which is a big deal, I want to do this for you,” Richard said looking into her eyes.

            She blushed, “Okay,” she whispered.

            “Thank you,” he responded.

She just smiled at him as the waiter came up and took their order. After they both ordered they started chatting idly. When suddenly Kara heard her favorite song start to play and her ears perked up. “Aw, it’s your favorite song, Our Song by Ron Pope,” Richard cooed innocently like he hadn’t requested it to play.

“Yes, it’s just such a sweet song….” She sighed when she realized that Richard was standing in front of her his hand outstretched.

“Richard, we are in a public place!” she said shocked.

“So?” he asked grabbing her hand and pulling her out of her chair placing his arms around her waist pulling her to him while she unsurely wrapped her arms around his neck.

“People are staring,” she whispered blushing.

            “Let them stare,” he replied.

She just blushed deeper, “I think I know what song you like,” Richard sang in her ear.

            “You didn’t….” she whispered.

“This is our song…..” he sang.

“I love you so much,” Kara whispered happily the embarrassment gone as she hugged him closer and leaned her head against his chest.

“I can’t promise no fairytale, but you’ll be the queen in any castle I build,” he sang again and continued to sing as they swayed back and forth and when the song ended he placed a small kiss on her forehead.

“Thank you, that’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me,” she whispered tears in her eyes as she stared at him as they sat back down.

“I paid attention, when we did that questionnaire, you told me you would know it was the perfect first date, if he made you dance with him in the middle of a restaurant…..” he told her.

“And I do, we could leave now, and it would be the perfect first date, Rich, I don’t know what to say, just thank you SO much,” she whispered.

He just chuckled as their food came, “The nights not over yet, I have plenty more planned, I know you quite well darling,” he joked.
