The next morning i woke up at 6:00a.m to the sound of my mom downstairs leaving for work.    When i was sure she was gone i got up and got dressed.  I threw the same shorts and shirt on i wore the day before.  I ran downstairs and was about to go outside when the phone rang.  It was my mom. Why'd she call this early in the morning? Maybe she new i was up! I didn't answer to make her think she mistaken. I hung the phone back up and continued out the door. I ran threw the forest and to the front door of Luke's house. I still didn't know his dad's name!  I knocked on the door a couple of times but no one answered.

I decided  to ring the doorbell, but when i reached to where i thought it would be, it wasnt there!  I ended up poking the wall. I looked up and down but i couldn't find it. Maybe its on the left side i thought. I turned to the left side of the door. While i was searching the door opened and there Luke's dad stood.  His eyes drooped and there was some sleep on the left side of his eyes, "Whatya want?" He asked.    I forgot it was 6:00 in the morning!    "Umm. I'm sooo sorry...Mr....umm-"  "Mr. Simpkins. I guess i forgot to tell you that last night. If you can't pronounce it right then you can call me Mr. Sims," He replied.  I nodded and looked over his shoulder for Luke.     "Are you looking for something?" Mr. Sims asked.

"No i just wanted to know if Luke was up. I kinda wanted to see Aslen," I told him.    "Ohhh. Isn't Aslen beautiful?  Okay welll i can take you down to the barn. Luke isn't really awake yet so i'll just let you hang out with Aslen and you can ride him if ya want," Mr. Sims seemed to be waking up.  I nodded excitedly and followed him across the dew covered grass and towards the barn. The night before i hadn't seen what the barn looked like from the outside because it was so dark, but now i got a clearer vision.   The barn was dark red like an apple. The latch on the front doors was silver and shined in the daylight.  At the very top where the point was was  one of those horse compasses that spun in the wind. I was smiling ear to ear when Mr. Sims unlatched the door and continued down the aisle towards Aslen.

Aslen was again nibbling on a piece of hay.  "Can you ride without a saddle and reins?" Mr. Sims asked. I nodded and then my smile quickly faded.      Mr. Sims seemed to notice it and asked ,"Whats wrong?"     "Well its just that my mom grounded me for being late and i am supposed to be at my house but.....here i am haha. Right in YOUR back yard haha," I explained.    He didn't seem amused.  "Well wheres you mom?"                " At work. She gets home at 5:00," i said.     He looked at his watch and nodded, "You have 10 hours here. But i suggest you only stay here till 1:00 just incase your mom gets home early."  I couldn't believe my ears.  He wasn't even mad.  He then turned  toward Aslen and clicked his tongue. Aslen walked out of his stall and went towards Mr.Sims.   "Here ya go. You can go ahead and get on," he said.   I jumped up on Aslen's back and leaned forward causing him to walk.    "Ahhh so you've learned that you cant kick his belly.  Yea that was a surprise to us when we first got him.  Luke kicked his belly and ended up falling cause of him jolting off like that," Mr.Sims said.  I nodded and started trotting around their field leaving Sims behind.  He didn't seem to notice though because he just went inside. I looked down at Aslen and smiled. His mane waved from the wind. I leaned forward again. He started a canter but that wasn't what i wanted. I wanted a gallop. Correction: I NEEDED  gallop.
