I quietly lock the door to the bathroom, regretting not doing it when Mitch was farther away. I back away from it, avoiding looking at myself in the mirror again. Or what's left of me, I guess. It'll just make me freak out worse. On the inside, I'm screaming. Screaming, cussing, freaking out. But on the outside, my pupils are the size of specks, I guarantee it. I'm hyperventilating, as well as trembling. So, I think I'm doing pretty well considering my circumstances. I nearly fall backwards, catching the curtain. Fudge. That was way too loud. I hear his footsteps stop, before continuing. Okay, okay. Calm down Lachlan. You can handle this. If you can handle 'telepathy' or whatever, you can handle disappearing into thin air.
Oh god, no I can't. I can't I can't I CAN'T!
Okay, haha, nice joke body! I don't wanna be invisible anymore. Does that work? I hold my hand out, seeing it just disappear into thin air. I bite my lip, holding back a whimper. Okay, that's okay. That's absolutely fine. Stay calm. What else can I do? I hold out my hands, and think. I'm sitting here, just trying to think up a storm, so I can possibly become visible again. I crack open an eye, to see my arms slowly disappearing more. THIS ISN'T WORKING! I take a deep breath. I hear the footsteps echo in the room right beside the bathroom I'm in. Oh no- he really can't find me like this! I pace around the room, hearing Mitch taunting anyone if they're in the room. He nears the room's doorway, the footsteps becoming much louder. Okay, I really hope this works. I lower my arms to my side, and hold my breath. Just think- completely, invisible. Invisible.
I feel a faint jolt of shock in my body, before my eyes snap open. I hold out my arm; or what's supposed to be arm, to find nothing there. I look down, finding nothing. I look in the mirror. Nothing. Oh god. I regret doing this. Very very much. Mistakes have been made. I hear him walk in front of the door, before knocking playfully. I hide back in the shower, slowly and quietly closing the curtain. I just steady my breathing, and stay as quiet as possible. He jiggles the handle, finding it closed. "Oh, playing hard to get, are we Lachlan?" I can hear the smirk on his face as he says that. I hear a tiny jingle, as he grabs the spare key from above the door frame. He unlocks it, pushing the door open lightly. I look past the side of the curtain to find him standing there, his hair is everywhere, and a giant grin plastered on his face. "Ohhh fishhhyyyy?" He taunts, stepping around quietly. He looks under the sink, slamming it shut. I jump at the loud noise, hoping he didn't hear the movement.
He jerks the shower curtain open, and I don't make a sound. "Huh." He says, looking disappointed. "I swear I heard someone in here." He groans. He just puts a smirk back on his face, before jumping out of the room and stalking down the halls once again. I exhale, coughing softly. "Jesus," I mutter, looking around. Okay, now what? I softly push on the door, closing it impossibly quiet. Okay, okay. Just think, visible. Completely visible. I drop my hands by my side, taking deep breaths. Visible. I crack an eye open, and I'm still invisible. OKAY, STAY CALM. I start hyperventilating again, my invisible form lightly faltering as I nearly pass out. JUST BECAUSE YOUR ONLY IDEA DIDN'T WORK, DOESN'T MEAN YOU NEED TO FREAK OUT, LACHLAN. I try to even my breaths, just making them even more uneven and shaky. Okay, just try to relax. Relax, and then find a solution. Okay? I'm able to even out my breaths, but they're still shaky. How about... Messing with Mitch? Wow, great idea Lachlan. Your stuck in a state of being invisible, and you decide to mess with Mitch. Nice.
I quietly open the door, stepping into the hall. The cold air hits me like a brick, as well as the feeling as to where I'm about to be attacked. Great. I stalk the halls, looking around. I find Mitch looking into a closet, and feel a mischievous grin grow on my face. I tap the wall right beside him, making him look over, eyes wide in surprise. "You aren't sly, boys!" He cheers. I giggle silently, before sliding behind him and tapping the wall on the opposite side of him. He wanders over, looking around. He looks so fudging confused, I swear. This would be top banter if I knew how to become visible again. Okay, wandering off topic. I slide behind him, and tap his shoulder, before dashing to the side, waiting for his response. He turns around as fast as a bullet, looking at the thin air. "Okay, who's doing this?" He asks, looking around. I snicker quietly, gaining his attention. "Lachlan?!" He asks. "One for no, two for yes." He says, turning in a circle. I knock once. He coughs. "Dang. Is it..... darude sandstorm ghost?" He asks sarcastically. I knock twice, a little quieter. He starts to nod with his eyes squinted. "Well, I'm gonna find my friends, spooky ghost. Stay here." He says, actually conversing with me. I swear, either Mitch is an idiot to actually talk to a 'ghost', or he's been influenced too much by Jerome.
I go back into the guest room me and the guys sleep in, and try to think. A loud chorus of screams emits from outside the doorway, meaning he found some of them. "Okay, 4 down, one to go!" He screams. They all cheer, before their footsteps dash around below me. Oh no. I wanna become visible now! This is urgent, Lachlan! Do something! I yell at myself internally, trying to think of something to do. I start hyperventilating again, while slowly pacing around the room. Oh god, this again. Okay body, I wanted to become visible again. Completely visible again... I feel a tiny feeling go off inside me, but nothing changes with my visibility issue.
C'mon, I want to become visible again! Another shock goes off inside me, but like last time, no reaction.
Please! I just to be normal again! Another one shoots through me a little stronger, making me falter between visible, before I disappear again. I groan in frustration.
I want a spark strong enough to change me back to being completely visible- Normal again! A large charge-like volt of electricity shoots through me, making my eyes snap open, as I seem to nearly fall over out of dizziness. I gain my footing, and hold my hands out. I can see them. I look at my legs, put my hands on my face- everything I can possibly do; I can see myself. I'm visible again. Completely. I look at my reflection in the window, finding myself completely visible. I laugh out loud in happiness. Oh my god, I did it! I smile at my achievement. Mental note, argue with myself to become visible again. Got it. I hear them scrambling towards the room I'm in, so I quickly hide behind the door. They come inside, looking around. "I swear I heard him laugh in here!" Jerome says, lifting the pillows off the bed. Everyone searches everywhere, not bothering to check behind the door. I roll my eyes. "You guys are idiots," I say, pushing the door closed. They all look at me, and hold a face of 'what the actual hell.'
"MITCH I TOLD YOU TO CHECK BEHIND THE DOOR!" Preston yells, holding his arm out towards me. "I checked there earlier!" Mitch responds, crossing his arms. "We are allowed to move around in this game, Mitch!" Preston groans, face-palming. "Well excuse me, I was talking to my ghost friend upstairs." He complains. "Ghost friend? In my house?" Jerome questions, raising an eyebrow. "He lives in the closet!" Mitch laughs. "I named him darude sandstorm." Mitch grins like a three year old. We all just look at him. "Uh- yeah. Okay." Rob laughs, before turning back to me. "Well, Lachlan won!" Rob cheers, clapping. I bow sarcastically, and they all clap. I stand back up to them rolling their eyes. I scoff. "Wow. I'm hurt." I say sarcastically, putting my hand to my chest. You see, we're very sarcastic people. We do this a lot. "Yeah yeah. What do we do now?" Mitch asks. I think for a moment. "SLEEP." Preston shouts, holding his arms in the air. "You just woke up." I complain. He rolls his eyes. "I don't care! Anytime is sleep time!" He yells. Oh my god, Preston. Sleep time? You truly are a riot. "I'm not tired." Me and Rob say in sync. We both make eye contact and start laughing.
"Wooflan..." Mitch whispers, passing us. "Where are you going?" Jerome asks. "Dota, of course!" Mitch cheers. We all follow behind, heading downstairs. We all banter about while setting up the game, laughing along at each others puns. But the only thing I can't get out of my head is;
What's happening to me?
