(this chapter has a few curse words. you've been warned :>)

Nervously messing with my feet, I waited anxiously for the boys to step foot onto the beach and to confront me. They were taking quite a while, seeing as they had locked the car about 30 seconds ago, and their footsteps haven't stopped. But as their footsteps pounded on the staircase, they came to a sudden stop, and the air became silent besides the waves crashing behind us.

Preston gave me a confused look, and I turned to Vikk, who's face was solemn as he stared at the staircase. I felt like I was going to throw up. My stomach was churning and my head was pounding. I still couldn't face the fact that I had to confront them. And it's about to happen.

What are they going to say?

What do I want them to say?

I had thought of this long before, but I hadn't realized how important it was until now.

What if they're not okay with it?

What if they make me leave?

Would they really go that far?

If I were them, would I go that far?

I wouldn't be sure as to what they could do...

Exactly.

Swallowing the thick abundance of saliva in my mouth, I cleared my throat, earning an odd look from Vikk and Preston. I tossed my shoes into the sand a few feet ahead of me, tired of carrying them any longer. It's not like I planned on leaving anytime soon.

I shook my head slightly, stepping backwards towards the water.

"You can't back out of this Lachlan." Vikk reminded, his voice in a hushed tone, as if the others were listening.

"I don't think I can do this Vikk."

"You can. We're both with you on this Lachlan, even if the others aren't."

"I don't want to lose them!"

"Chances are you won't, so calm down," Vikk argues, glancing at Preston. He hadn't said anything yet.

"I think...I think it'll be okay." Preston whispers, quickly turning his attention back to the ocean.

"Neither of you are allowed to get pessimistic or sad on me, okay? Everything's going to be fine."

Vikk grabbed hold of both of my hands, which had begun glowing slightly. I hadn't even realized, until he grabbed them and began rubbing his thumbs on the back of my hands.

"You're going to be fine. Okay?" He grins, the subtle wind brushing his hair out of place.

I nod lamely, anxiousness still eating me from the inside out as I wait to hear the resumption of their footsteps. Preston continued fiddling with his feet in the sand, never tearing his gaze from the ocean's surface. Why was he so worried? I couldn't hear his thoughts very well, because they were going a thousand miles an hour. And from what I could tell, he was worried about losing the others as well.

He'd be happier if he stayed with them.

Lachlan, you don't even know their opinion yet. Shut up.

The footsteps suddenly resonated throughout the shore, and I felt my heart thumping against my chest in attempt to escape the uncomfortable situation.

I saw the three shadows standing at the stop of the staircase, their heads turning from side to side before stopping, seemingly staring in our direction. My stomach wraps around itself and forms into a knot, making me wrap my arm around my stomach, staring at the three beings.
