You rubbed the bandaged bend of your arm. With as many tubes of blood Princess Bubblegum took from you for her "tests", you were surprised that you hadn't passed out. You had no doubt that there would be a large bruise there when you took the wrapping off. You and Finn had spent the whole day in that lab of the Princesses, the sun was already almost set. As the two of you walked at a leisurely pace towards the entrance, you couldn't help but look curiously at every candy person that walked past you. They were all so unique, each one of them looked so different. Aside from the banana guards, those guys all looked exactly the same. You glanced at Finn, who was coincidentally already looking at you, his face holding a rather apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know she was gonna do all that. I thought she was just gonna look at you." He said, giving your hand a soft squeeze. Come to think of it, he hadn't let go of your hand since you got to the Candy Kingdom. The strange part is that you hadn't noticed because it just felt so natural. His hand fit yours perfectly, as if they were meant to hold each other.
"Its okay," You said and gave his hand a squeeze in return, "It wasn't your fault, plus I'll be fine by tomorrow I'm sure."
You offered him a smile, then bumped him lightly with your shoulder. The sky was dark shades of pink and purple, and the wind blew gently as the two of you started the walk back to his treehouse.
"I'll make it up to you okay."
"Oh really?" You asked, looking down at the grass, "how do you plan to do that?"
"We'll get married," He said, grinning down at you. You immediately looked up at him with wide eyes and a deep crimson blush. Your heart sped in your chest. How could he say something like that so nonchalontly?... Unless he's joking?
"W-what?" You stuttered.
"I mean all the princesses around here want to get married." He said, his face turning a dark shade of red that mirrored yours. He rubbed the back of his neck again and smiled awkwardly, "I-I mean I just kinda thought that you wanted that too. D-Don't all girls want to get married? I mean... W-we don't have to, I was just saying... um yeah."
You laughed a little, thinking it was cute how flustered he got so quickly. Leaning into him a little you lifted the back of his hand and pressed your lips to it. If you thought he was red before, he was at least twenty shades darker now.
"Your r-really cute when you blush like that," You said, averting your eyes to look down at the ground.
Finns face still burned with a dark blush, but he slowly brought your hand to his lips like you'd done to him. Kissing it with a great amount of gentle hesitance. You met his eyes, his electric blue orbs gazing deeply into your (e/c) ones. The sun had set, shrouding you both in the dark navy blue of the night. Crickets chirped softly, and somewhere far away a wolf howled. You smiled at him, lightly touching his cheek with the fingertips of your free hand.
"Its getting late," You said, bashfully looking away from him. Taking a few steps in the direction of the treehouse, you tugged Finn along beside you. When you got to the treehouse and walked inside you found that the place was dark and Jake was gone. Finn assured you that all was well, saying that Jake had most likely gone to spend the night at his girlfriend, Lady Rainicorns house. Disregarding the odd fact that a talking cooking dog had a girlfriend that was a "Rainicorn", you stretched and yawned loudly.
"Are you tired?" Finn asked, letting go of your hand to step past you and into the kitchen.
"Just, (*yawn*) a little," You admitted. That's when you realized... you have no other clothes besides the white body suit you were wearing. Not only that, but you also saw only one bed in that bedroom upstairs, "Finn?-"
Before you could say anything else the blonde scooped you up in his arms like he had earlier and headed up to his room. You can't really explain how he made it up that ladder without using his hands but he made it work. Setting you on the messy bed of his, he then went over to a dresser.
"Um, Finn, I-"
Again before you could say anything Finn came back holding a T-shirt out to you.
"Here, you can wear this," He said, with a soft smile, "um, the bathrooms right there if you wanna go change in there."
You nodded slightly, taking the large t-shirt from him. When you were in the bathroom you smiled to yourself. Since you lacked any memories you had to wonder if this was the first time that a boy had given you something of his to wear. Slipping out of the body suit you let out a relieved sigh when you saw that you were in fact wearing undergarments. You pulled the large piece of clothing over your head. It was a little short on you, stopping an inch or two above your mid thigh, but at least it was better than nothing. Sheepishly stepping out from the bathroom your eyes grew wide at the site you were greeted with. There, beside the bed stood Finn, in nothing but his boxers. He was just about to pull a t-shirt similar to yours over his head but stopped when he noticed you in the open doorway of his bathroom. You couldn't help but stare at the beautifully sculpted muscles of his abs and chest. Even as a young spry teenage boy you wouldn't have imagined him being so well built. His blonde hair was messy and his blue eyes seemed to be devouring you. Because while you looked at him, he was looking right back at you. It was the first time he'd ever seen a girl in nothing but one of his shirts, and you pulled it off perfectly. This would also be the first time he ever had a girl sleep over at his house. Besides LSP who slept over on the couch once, but that was LSP, not a girl as beautiful as you. His heart was beating faster and his mind was more fuzzy than the first time he met Flame Princess. Realizing how unexpectidly intimate the moment had gotten, you both looked away with bright new blushes on your faces.
"Um, Finn," You said, looking at the floor. He looked at you, realizing that he liked the way you said his name, "W-Where do you want me to sleep?"
He wanted to say that you'd be sleeping with him. But he figured that that would be kind of weird. After all, seeing the way you looked in his shirt, seeing how the hem of it played on your legs, made him feel kinda weird. It made his body feel weird. And if he felt that way then he figured that you must feel that way to. Pulling his shirt the rest of the way over his head he smiled at you.
"You can sleep here, in my bed," he said, "I'm gonna go sleep on the couch."
A sudden stroke of fear rushed over you. As he walked past you to get to the ladder your hand latched onto the bottom of his shirt. You didn't look at him, but somehow he could tell that you didn't want to be alone. After how ever many years you'd been in that tube for, right now, your first night after waking up in a strange place, you couldn't stand the thought of being left alone.
"Please, don't go..." You pleaded in a voice that was barely a whisper, "... I, I don't want to be alone."
Although he didn't really know you, he could hear the desperation in your voice. It didn't take much, if anything at all to make him give in.
"Don't worry," He said in a gentle tone, "I won't leave you."
You walked towards the bed, pulling him by his shirt along with you. After you climbed in Finn turned off the light, leaving the two of you in his dark messy room. You felt him climb onto the mattress, his leg brushing yours. You were nervous with the concept of sleeping next to a guy, but knowing that he was there made you feel safe. After a few moments you flipped onto your side to face him, scooting closer to his chest. His body stiffened, he'd never had a girl cuddle up to him the way you were. Your hands rested on his chest, and your head laid on his outstretched arm. He could tell that it only took a few seconds for you to fall asleep, because your breathing quickly slowed and steadied. It felt so strange, your body pressed up against his. You were so small, so delicate looking. But he had to admit that he liked it. How soft you were, how warm you were, and how oddly nice you smelt. Hesitantly moving his free arm so that it was around your waist he hugged you close. He smiled to himself.
"I could get use to this," He said softly before his eyes drifted shut.
The next morning Finn had woken up before you. Before the sun was even up. But he didn't dare move, for fear of waking you up. He'd been looking at you all morning. You slept so soundly and you looked so innocent. Neither of you had moved much at all in your sleep. You were still cuddled up against him and his arm was still around you when he woke up. But the shirt you had slept in somehow managed to crawl up your body. He could feel your bare stomach against him. It made him feel funny, made his body feel funny, like seeing you in his t-shirt last night had made him feel funny. He couldn't explain how having you in his arms made him feel. He was happy of course, but it frightened him a little too. All this time he had thought he was the only human left, so all the life threatening adventures he'd went on hadn't really mattered. Because he was the last of his kind anyways. But then he and Jake found you. Another human, a girl human, probably the first and last he would ever see. That frightened him. He had to protect you now that he had you. Even if he'd only known you for a short period of time, he refused to loose you. He refused to be the only one again. Feeling you grab onto the front of his shirt he looked down at your face. You were still asleep, but you cringed into him, like you were having a nightmare. Your eyes were wet with tears that were building up behind closed lids. He wondered what painful memories you could have that made you cry in your sleep. Holding you close and burying his face in your sprawled out hair, he refused to leave you alone in this world either.
"I won't leave you," He whispered in a sincere tone, "I promise."
(~~~~meanwhile in The Candy Kingdom~~~~)
There's only an hour or so left until sunrise, Bubblegum could only tell due to the clock on her counter top. Her lab lacked windows so it would be difficult to tell the time unless she had it there, the soft tick-tock noise it made as the seconds, minutes and hours passed by was somewhat comforting. She had so many of her odd little machines running right now it was ridiculous. And it was all because of you. (Name) the human.
"(Name) the human?" She said with a scoff as she flipped through a few old dingy paged books, "I doubt it. There haven't been humans around here for nearly a century!"
Excluding Finn of course. Princess Bubblegum was scheptical (to say the least) about you. Even if all results of the various tests she ran on your blood said that you were in fact human, she refused to believe it. There was no logic in it! Every scientific fact said that it couldn't be possible for you to be human. She only had a handful of tests left that she could possibly run (and currently was running). Slamming the useless book to the floor The Princess growled as she rubbed her temples. As she rushed back over to the shelf a light hearted "Ding!" stopped her movements. Slowly looking over her shoulder at the machine beside her table, a small yellow light flashed on and off. Stepping towards the machine she opened the capsule at the top. Reaching in she pulled out a small tube that held your blood. Her eyes widened at the sight. Your blood had been red when she took it, but the liquid that was in the tube now was a glowing dark purple.
"...W-What is this?"
For the first time in a long while, The Princess didn't know what to make of the situation. Shed never seen something like this. It perplexed her intellectual mind. But surely no good could come from a result like this. Shed need to study you. She would also need more blood for further testing.
