Chapter 13 – Fight and Rescue
Chase and Jackson returned to Earth after hearing the latest news from Heaven. Their forces had grown to 35,000, and despite some conflicts, they were ready to face Hell's army. But now, they had a more immediate task—to eliminate the two demons who had been sent to hunt down Sarah.
"Alright, where are these guys?" Chase asked, gripping his sword tightly.
"They're holed up in a warehouse about two blocks from here," Jackson replied. "We need to be careful. They'll be expecting us."
Chase nodded, scanning the area as they walked. They passed empty storefronts and old churches, and finally reached the warehouse—a hulking, abandoned building. The place reeked of decay, and every sound seemed amplified by the eerie silence. They pushed open the heavy doors and moved toward the back of the building, where shadows seemed thicker and the air felt heavy.
A low, mocking voice echoed through the warehouse. "Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to show up," sneered the first demon, stepping out from behind a stack of crates.
"Yeah, we were starting to think you weren't coming," taunted the second demon, cracking his knuckles.
"We're here," Jackson said, spreading his arms confidently. "Let's finish this."
"Good," the first demon grinned, eyes gleaming. "We've been waiting for a chance to tear you apart."
Jackson's POV
Jackson stepped forward, facing the first demon as the creature charged at him, sword raised. Jackson leaped over him, grabbing the demon by the head and slamming him against the wall. As the demon recovered, Jackson barely had time to block a downward strike, their swords clashing with a fierce ring.
The demon chanted, "Hau ten jeu kiva!" and launched a fireball at Jackson. Jackson dodged, using his speed to evade the flames, and countered with his own spell: "Awn boi fro so!" A flurry of spectral swords materialized and hurtled toward the demon, one piercing his stomach.
Taking advantage of the demon's pain, Jackson closed in, slashing at his leg and shoulder. He then whispered a final chant: "Tor ne kill de dui!" Instantly, a searing flame enveloped the demon, burning him from the inside out, his dark wings disintegrating to ash as he fell, defeated.
Chase's POV
The second demon rushed at Chase, swinging his blade with a crazed fury. Chase dodged, sliding under the demon's strike, and watched as the creature smashed into a steel beam, dazed. Chase raised his hand, chanting, "Iu tee op lieu!" Lightning crackled from his fingers, arcing toward the demon and shocking him with thousands of volts.
The demon screamed, momentarily stunned, but managed to recover, deflecting the lightning with his hand. Furious, he charged at Chase again, their swords clashing as sparks flew. The demon slashed Chase's arm, drawing blood, but Chase retaliated, cutting deep into the demon's leg. With a powerful kick to the chest, Chase sent the demon crashing into an old boiler.
Without hesitation, Chase summoned fire in his palm and hurled it into the boiler, igniting it. Flames erupted around the demon as he screamed in agony, his body consumed by fire until nothing remained but smoke and ash.
"Good job, Chase," Jackson said, healing the wound on Chase's arm with a quick touch.
"Thanks. Are you alright?" Chase asked.
"Yeah, don't worry about me," Jackson replied, giving him a reassuring nod.
"Let's get rid of their weapons," Chase suggested. They gathered the demons' swords and tossed them into a nearby furnace, watching as the metal warped and melted away.
Unbeknownst to them, Sarah and John were just outside, tracking them with John's device. Sarah's heart leaped with relief as the device confirmed their location.
Inside, Jackson spoke up. "Alright, I'll let Heaven know we handled it. Then we can head back."
Chase nodded, sending a quick mental message. Just as he finished, he froze, hearing a familiar voice that sent a shock through him.
"Chase!" Sarah called out, rushing into the warehouse and throwing her arms around him.
"Sarah?" Chase asked, startled. "What are you doing here?"
"To rescue you," Sarah replied, her voice filled with determination.
Chase chuckled. "And how exactly were you planning to do that?"
Before Sarah could respond, a sinister voice echoed from the shadows. "Yes, Sarah. How exactly were you planning to do that... now that you're trapped here with us?"
They turned to see two more demons stepping out of the darkness, one of them smiling wickedly. The first demon, taller with dark horns and fiery eyes, sneered, "I'm Gero," while his companion, a shorter but equally menacing figure with spiked armor, added, "And I'm Vermin."
"Chase, behind you!" Sarah shouted.
Chase spun around, but it was too late. Another demon, called Heru, appeared out of nowhere and grabbed him by the throat, lifting him off his feet.
"Well, well," Heru grinned. "I've been waiting for this moment, Chase. You've been a thorn in Hell's side for too long."
Chase struggled, his hands clawing at Heru's grip, but his strength was fading. Heru's grip tightened, his smile growing darker. The demon Gero stepped forward, a twisted grin on his face as he began chanting, "Parka ne cue me!"
Chase's limbs grew heavy as the chant took hold, his body slowly paralyzed. He dropped to the ground, unable to move, as the shadows closed in around him. His vision dimmed, and the last thing he heard was Sarah screaming his name before darkness engulfed him.
