Chapter 8 – Heaven Time

Jackson stood by the TV, watching as it flickered and went static. Jay, one of Heaven's council members, was trying to reach him with an urgent message.

"Chase! Get in here!" Jackson yelled.

Chase came rushing inside, with John trailing behind him, looking confused. "What's wrong?" Chase asked.

"We need to go to Heaven. It's important," Jackson replied, his tone sharp and urgent.

Chase nodded, turning to John. "John, watch over Sarah for me, okay?"

"Don't worry. I'll keep her safe," John promised.

With that, Chase and Jackson vanished, flashing up to Heaven. John watched them disappear, a small smile playing on his face as he remembered his own past experiences of being protected by Jackson. Now, it was his turn to protect Sarah.

Chase and Jackson arrived in the council chamber, a vast room with a long table, where Heaven's leaders often gathered to discuss matters of urgency. At the far end of the room, a tall, empty throne stood, reserved for God Himself—a presence that, lately, seemed increasingly absent.

"What's going on, Jay?" Chase asked, settling into his seat, Jackson by his side.

Jay looked worried, his wings shifting nervously. "One of our angel spies infiltrated Hell and reported back. The demons are planning to launch an all-out attack on Heaven."

Chase's jaw tightened. "How many angels do we have ready to defend Heaven?"

Jay's face remained tense. "Around 10,000, as of now."

"That's not enough!" Chase said, frustration lacing his words. "We need more. Start calling in all available forces."

Jay nodded. "Yes, sir."

Just then, a young angel named Scott flew in, urgency clear in his expression. "Chase! Your father wants to speak with you."

Chase glanced at Jackson, who nodded in understanding. "Go. I'll catch you up when you get back."

Chase flashed out of the council room, reappearing directly in front of his father, Adam, who looked slightly startled.

"Geez, son! Give me a warning next time," Adam chuckled.

Chase laughed. "Well, you did want to talk to me."

Adam took a step back, his gaze softening as he looked Chase over. "If you'd lived... this is what I'd see. You, all grown up. Twenty-three years old."

Chase's expression softened. "It wasn't your fault, Dad."

Adam shook his head. "Maybe not, but we're together now. I'll take every moment I can get. And Chase... I'm joining the fight. I'm not letting you face this alone."

"Are you sure?" Chase asked, a mix of pride and worry in his voice.

"Absolutely," Adam said, pulling Chase into a tight hug. "I'll be by your side, no matter what."

As they embraced, Kim walked in, her eyes filling with love as she looked at her son and husband. "My two handsome men," she said with a smile.

Adam kissed her cheek. "Thanks, honey."

Chase turned to his mother, leaning in to kiss her cheek as well. "Thanks, Mom."

She held him close for a moment. "Be careful, baby."

"I will, Mom," Chase promised, before flashing out, returning to the council chamber where Jackson was waiting.

"Welcome back," Jackson said as Chase settled back into his seat.

"So, what did I miss?" Chase asked, glancing around.

Jackson's expression grew serious. "We found out who's leading the demon army. It's Zane."

Chase's eyes narrowed. "Zane... Trevor's brother? The one who died in that train accident twenty years ago?"

Jackson nodded. "Yes. He blames you for Trevor's death and wants revenge."

Chase clenched his fists. "Trevor had it coming when he tried to kill Sarah. But do we know when they're planning to attack?"

"Not yet," Jackson replied. "Our spies are still gathering intel, but it could be soon."

Chase let out a frustrated sigh. "Alright. I'll be back. I need to check on Sarah."

Jackson nodded. "Go ahead. I'll be down soon."

Chase flashed out, but instead of heading straight back to Earth, he made his way up the grand staircase toward the God Tower, a place few angels ventured. It was said to hold the innermost sanctum of Heaven—the place where God Himself resided, though He hadn't been seen in a long time.

He reached the top, pushing open the large doors to God's room. It was vast and nearly empty, save for a glowing orb in the center of the room. The orb pulsed softly, like a heartbeat, radiating a dim light that grew and shrank. Chase stepped closer, peering inside. Within the orb, he could see faint images—people on Earth, praying, begging for help, asking for miracles to heal their loved ones. The prayers filled the room like a low hum, a constant reminder of humanity's faith.

Chase glanced around the room. In one corner stood a bed, though it was untouched, pristine. Angels said God never slept, though there were times when He would lay here in quiet contemplation. And yet... the room felt dimmer, emptier than Chase remembered.

He looked back at the glowing orb, which flickered faintly as if it were struggling to hold onto its light. The number of prayers displayed next to it was staggering—90,000 prayers, piling up since God had last been seen here. Chase couldn't shake the feeling of abandonment, the sense that Heaven's light had dimmed along with God's absence.

As Chase left the room, he cast one last look at the orb, noticing how the light seemed to dim even further as the last whispered prayer faded into silence.
