Chapter 15 – Captured and War Begins, Part 1

Chase's eyes fluttered open, and he found himself disoriented, his body aching as he tried to move. Voices echoed around him, growing clearer as his senses returned. He looked up, feeling the heavy weight of chains around his wrists, binding him to a steel beam above. His powers were completely gone, drained by the demons' chants.

Glancing around, Chase saw Jackson tied to the same beam, blood dripping from fresh wounds on his arms and face. Across the warehouse, he spotted Sarah and John bound to thick posts, their faces filled with terror.

"Well, look who's finally awake," sneered a demon named Arson, stepping forward and pointing a sword at Chase's chest.

Beside him, another demon, Bies, grinned wickedly. "Good. I've been waiting for this moment."

Chase's heart pounded, but he steadied himself, looking defiantly at them. "Go ahead. I'm not afraid of you."

"Oh, you will be," Bies sneered. "But first, a little introduction." With a wicked smile, Arson drove his sword into Chase's stomach. Chase screamed, his body convulsing, but he forced himself to hold back, gritting his teeth as blood seeped from the wound.

"Chase, are you alright?" Jackson called, his voice strained with concern.

Chase nodded, trying to mask the pain. "Yeah, I'm fine," he gasped.

"'Fine' won't be a word in your vocabulary soon," Bies taunted, stepping closer with another blade.

"Stay away from him!" Sarah shouted, struggling against her bindings. John tried to quiet her, but his own face betrayed his fear for Chase's life.

Bies turned to her with a cruel smirk. "And what should we do with this one?" he asked, eyeing Sarah.

Vermin, another demon lurking nearby, laughed darkly. "How about a little fun with her? Might make our friend here scream a bit more."

"No! Leave her alone!" Chase shouted, twisting in his chains, desperation in his eyes. "Take me. Do whatever you want to me, but leave her out of this."

"Fine," Vermin said, shrugging. He turned and punched Chase hard across the face, making his head snap back. Blood trickled from Chase's mouth as he glared at the demon, refusing to give in.

Next to him, Jackson struggled against his own chains, gritting his teeth in pain as another demon stabbed him repeatedly in the shoulder and stomach. His screams echoed in the warehouse, and Sarah's face crumpled with tears, helpless to stop the torment unfolding before her.

John's mind raced, memories of his past encounter with demons flashing back. He reached up, fingers brushing the pendant around his neck—a pendant that hid a small key Jackson had given him long ago. Carefully, he twisted the key, unlocking his wrist bindings, then his legs, dropping silently to the floor.

"Hey!" he called out, waving his arms to draw the demons' attention. As one demon approached him, John pulled out a small, gleaming sword from his back pocket—a blade that could kill both demons and angels alike. It was the Omen Sword, a weapon Jackson had entrusted to him for protection.

The demon sneered, raising his own sword, but before he could react, John thrust the Omen Sword into his chest. A burst of light flared from the wound as the demon dissolved into ash, his dark wings disintegrating and covering the floor.

Another demon roared in anger, charging at John, but Jackson managed to break his chains just in time. With a swift move, he snapped the demon's neck, then caught the Omen Sword John tossed to him, plunging it into the demon's heart. The creature dissolved, its ashes swirling around them.

"John, get Sarah!" Jackson shouted as he rushed to Chase's side.

John nodded, running over to free Sarah, but before he could reach her, two more demons materialized, knocking Jackson to the ground and pressing a sword to his throat.

Chase twisted desperately in his chains. "Jackson, get out of the body!" he yelled.

Jackson gave a quick nod, and a flash of light burst from his human vessel as he and Chase both vanished, their spirits transported back to Heaven

In Heaven, Jackson looked at Chase, his eyes wide with urgency. "Are you crazy? We can't bring them here! It's against all the rules!"

Chase set his jaw, defiance in his gaze. "There are no rules now, Jackson. The war has already begun. Do it."

Jackson hesitated but finally nodded. Within moments, a flash of light appeared, and John and Sarah materialized beside them, looking around in awe.

"Chase, you're okay!" Sarah exclaimed, running to him and hugging him tightly.

Chase smiled, hugging her back. "Yeah, I'm alright. Are you two okay?"

John looked around, taking in the vast clouds stretching around them. "Yeah... so this is Heaven?"

"Yes," Chase said. "You're safe here. For now."

Sarah looked down, her eyes wide as she saw the clouds beneath her feet. "Wow. This is... amazing."

"John, are you injured?" Chase asked, checking his old friend over.

"I'm fine," John replied. "That Omen Sword you gave me worked like a charm. Thank you."

Sarah clung to her father, relief evident in her eyes. "Thank you for saving us, Dad."

Jackson's face grew serious as he gazed toward the edge of Heaven, where dark clouds gathered ominously. "Chase, the battle has already started. Hell's forces are advancing fast—they've got 60,000 demons, and we're down to 55,000."

Chase clenched his fists, his determination hardening. "We have to hold them back. We can't let them breach the gates."

"Come on," Jackson said, his voice grim as he turned toward the red clouds on the horizon where the battle was taking place. "It's time to fight."

Chase, John, Sarah, and Jackson stood together, facing the gathering storm. The peace of Heaven had been shattered, and the final battle had begun.
