The next day, the love-strucked girl was waiting for Adrien to arrive with her best-friend Alya. They were both talking about whether Adrien would acknowledge Marinette's gift.
At least that is what the both of them are hoping for. The moment the white car stopped and Adrien stepped out, with Marinette's self-made scarf wound around his neck.
The heart inside the girl faltered before pumping madly and her face broke into a smile. Alya wolf-whistled before asking,"Adrien! Where did you get that awesome scarf?"
Adrien who was fist-bumping with Nino as the two made-up for the argument before, turned his head and smiled as if he wanted someone to ask that question.
He marvelled,"My dad gave it to me. It's cool, right? I have been receiving the same pen for three consecutive years. It's nice to know that he noticed."
Marinette's heart broke into two when she heard his answer while Alya was scrunching her eyebrows in confusion. Nino celebrated with Adrien before walking together to class.
Her arms grabbed the shoulders of the suddenly still girl. Alya cried,"Oh my god, I am so sorry for you, Marinette!! We have to clear things up!! What type of person his father is, taking your gift and claiming thankfulness for himself!!"
The next words that came out of Marinette's mouth shocked Alya to the bone.
"It's okay, girl. He looks so happy right now, I don't want that smile to disappear even it's for a gift."
Marinette loved hat big beaming smile Adrien had, and her heart felt proud that it had managed to make him smile for once. Even if he doesn't know it was her gift. A true smile, not polite but genuine.
Alya sobbed and hugged her friend tightly, suffocating her. She was filled with so much emotions from Marinette's statement.
"I vow that I'll make him see what a beautiful girl you are, Marinette! That's a best friends' promise!!"
She thanked for her thoughtfulness before joining class in Francois DuPont School.
Don't worry, Marinette. Your time will come.
I know that it is short but I promise that it will be longer in the tenth chapter. My schedule for the next few weeks is going to be full, what with tests and projects. But I'll will still update! Promise!
