Marinette's peaceful sleep was disturbed by an alarm that rang at exactly seven o'clock in the morning. Groaning, she covered her head with her pillow when all of sudden Tikki, her Kwami shouted as loud as she could to wake her up for school.

"Marinette, wake up! School's going to start and you cannot afford to be late again!" Tikki 's angelic voice called out to her. The said girl sat up and stretched a little before getting up and tidying her bed.

Things had happened for the past two years, Marinette met Tikki who became her Kwami. She is a sprite-like creature which has a large head and a small body. She has the ability to fly as well as levitation.

She taught Marinette to be strong whenever she was struggling with life decisions. Something popped into Marinette's mind after having an energizing shower, it was Adrien's birthday today!

Squealing, Marinette looked dreamily at her desktop wallpaper which had photos of Adrien given to her by Alya, her best friend.

Since school started, Marinette had always had a huge crush on Adrien Algreste, the school's golden prince. His father, Gabriel Algreste was the best fashion designer in all of Paris!

He excels in everything, and is nothing like Marinette who struggles with things but stops when she gets the hang of it. Adrien takes fencing, piano and Chinese classes. He was also a model, knowing how to pose and express for his photoshoots.

And there's Alya, Marinette's best friend ever since Day One of school. She was at medium height with dark-reddish brown wavy hair that reaches her shoulders. A pair of black-rimmed glasses was her favourite accessory. To Marinette, she's a down to earth friend as well as dramatic. In school, Alya was the head of the school blog thanks to her love for reporting. She also the creator of Ladyblog.

Last but not least, Marinette's most hated enemy, Chloe Bourgeois. She's the daughter of the mayor of Paris, Mr Bourgeois. Her despicable attitude was horrible but not worse than throwing herself at Adrien every time she sees him. Marinette gets jealous every single time, Alya had always tried to calm her down. Let's just say that they weren't on friendly terms.

Marinette went downstairs to see Sabine preparing breakfast and Tom drinking coffee while reading the newspaper. She greeted them with a morning and ate happily with her parents, occasionally exchanging conversations about school and the bakery.

Sabine reminded her forgetful daughter, "Remember to clean your room, Marinette."

"But mum, it's Friday! And I promised to hang out with Alya."

"Fine, I'll you this time. But don't get mad if I came across your emails or your diary..."

Sputtering, Marinette hastily swallowed her orange juice, "It's okay, mum. I'll clean up myself after school."

Then the doorbell rang, revealing Alya with her signature outfit, a white tank top underneath a plaid shirt and light blue jeans plus sneakers.

Her backpack was already on her shoulders, she teased her friend, "Ready to face the music? Giving the gift to him must be hard, eh?"

Marinette blushed as red as a tomato before grabbing her bag from her room and stuffed the gift into her bag. Tikki was already in her bag, silently making sure her presence was unknown.

"Of course, it is! You know how I get nervous when I'm around him." She whined in desperation.

Alya laughed as they walked through the streets of Paris towards their school.

At school, every students were at their lockers, they were either chatting or looking for something in their lockers. Unfortunately for Marinette, Chloe's locker was just a few locker's away from her's.

Alya was talking about the school blog to Marinette as she placed her things in the locker when loud squealings were heard from the hallway. Both of them twirled around to see Adrien with girls surrounding him.

Everything seemed to slow down whenever Marinette looks at Adrien. He was wearing a casual outfit today including, a white shirt with a collar and rolled up sleeves, a black five-stripes shirt, dark blue jeans and orange sneakers. On the ring finger of his right hand, laid a silver ring in remembrance of his mother.

She loves everything about him from his brushed back hair and gorgeous green eyes. How on earth am I suppose to give it to him without pausing or stuttering? Marinette asked herself in despair. Her heartbeats increases, pumping faster than ever.

She looked up and Adrien's green orbs caught her's. Blush began to form on her cheeks as he walked straight towards them. The girls behind him were still shouting for his autographs or their love for him which made Marinette jealous.

But that didn't matter as Adrien addressed them, "Hi Marinette, hey Alya."

Alya nodded pleasantly at him and nudged Marinette breaking her from her comatose-like state. Shaking her hand softly, Marinette waved shyly at him in greeting before wishing him,"Happy Birthday, Adrien."

Adrien beamed at her, making her blush until her whole face was red. Alya was smirking.

Nino popped out of nowhere, saying hello to the both of them. But before anyone could say anything else, Chloe came along and cut between Marinette and Adrien.

"Adrikins! Happy birthday, to you darling!" She leaned closer for a kiss. Adrien dodged it before thanking her and got out of her serpent-like grip.

He and Nino hurriedly ran to class. Marinette and Alya snickered before walking to theirs. Chloe called out to Marinette, "Oh, I saw what you did just now, Marinette. But let me tell you he's mine. By the way, nice outfit!"

Sabrina joined her boss soon after laughing evilly with Chloe at Marinette and Alya. But the two paid no attention, knowing the true answer in their hearts.

Marinette had been enduring Chloe's irritating jabs at her outfit for far too long. What's wrong with my clothes? The said girl was wearing a dark grey over shirt with pink-polka dotted collar and a black-collared white shirt and a pair of pink jeans completed with pink dress shoes. Her black hair was tied back with two red bands.

At least it is better than Chloe's. She had her blonde hair tied into a pony tail while wearing a yellow over shirt, really? The colors clash, for heaven's sake!

"Time for class. " grumbled Marinette quietly.
