Chapter 10
Lady-In-Waiting Maddie's P.O.V.
Watching Emily with the sword was amazing. She was really talented! If she's that good then I have to be somewhat good.
"Okay." I say getting some people's attention. "Whose going to teach me?"
"I will, Lady-In-Waiting." Holden says walking up to me.
"Well be prepared for a challenge." I say. I take the sword from him and it slips out of my fingers and on to the ground. "I'm a little clumsy." I blush. I pick it up again and drop it again.
"Let me help you." Holden says. He steps closer to me and picks up the sword. He places it in my hands. Once I get a good grasp of it he lets go. "Lets get started."
I try to swing it, but with no luck. Holden has to teach me from scratch. We go over the basics, like holding and swinging it. Once I got those down we do a little combat. I know he's going extremely easy on me, but I get better and better.
Holden swings his sword towards mine and I block it. Then he hits it again and knocks it out of my hands. He swings around me and points his sword at my neck.
"You're in trouble now.," He laughs. "But you can save yourself." He pauses. "All you have to do is let me escort you to the Ball. Then I'll let you live." He smiles.
I smile back. "Please don't hurt me." I fake plead. He lowers his sword. I step closer to him so that we are only a couple inches away. When I know he's off guard, I take his sword real fast and point it back at him. "Deal." I laugh. "You can escort me to the Ball." I lower his sword, then hand it to him. I grab my own and we keep fighting.
"I think that you might actually have a little chance of protecting yourself." Holden laughs swinging his sword at me again. "You're improving."
"I'm a fast learner." I swing at him.
We practice for another hour or two before he has to stop for his training. I take my sword with me in case anything bad happens. I walk to the library to see if Christine's there. Once I walk in there, I see that she is in there. I go to talk to her.
"Hey, Christine!" I walk up and hug her. "Watcha doing?"
"Organizing these files." Christine says not looking up from her papers. "Since Taylor is planning an attack, I must get everything ready."
"So you think Nathan was telling the truth?" I ask.
Christine looks up. "Honestly, I do. He seemed honest and we don't want to doubt him and get attacked."
"That's true." I say looking over her papers.
"You are always working." I say.
"I enjoy my work." Christine says going back to the papers. "I love helping my kingdom. I'm honored to have this position."
"You never take any time for yourself though." I say.
"There's no time." Christine says. "There is aways more that needs to be done. Plus, I have you to keep me company." She grins.
"Since I don't have a huge position, i have a lot of free time. But I'm honored that Bridget picked me for her Lady-In-Waiting." I say.
"You should be." Christine says. "Princess' are good judge of character, and you have a lot of character. You're a good, honest, fun person."
"Thank you." I say looking at the clock on the wall. "I should probably go to find Bridget. We are supposed to meet in ten minutes. Keep in mind what I told you."
