Chapter 11

Queen Taylor's P.O.V.

"Where's Nathan?" I ask one of my guards. Nathan has been missing since yesterday. I would've figured he was pouting in his room, but he never came to dinner.

"I have no idea, your majesty. We haven't seen him since yesterday morning" the guard said. Great. I wonder where he is?

"Boys!" I yell. Maybe the princes know where he's at.

"Yes?" Tom asks.

"Where's Nathan?"

"I have no idea. We haven't seen him since two nights ago. After dinner that night, he went to his room and that was the last we saw" Max answered.

"I saw him leave the palace yesterday morning. But I haven't seen him since then" Jay piped in.

"Do you think he went over to their side?" Siva asked.

"No!" Tom yelled. "He's on our side. He can't betray us like that. He wouldn't."

"I don't know Tom," I said, "he always had a thing for your sister. He was always watching over her. It wouldn't surprise me if he's over there right now."

"Well, what are we going to do about this?" Tom asked.

"We wait. We keep our plans. For now."

Princess Emily's P.O.V.

After my fighting lesson, I decided to freshen up. I went into the bathroom we had and cleaned up. I put on a new gown and headed to the library. I needed to ask Christine something.

When I got to the library, I was about to walk in when I saw Nathan talking to Christine. I wasn't going to ruin this moment. He was going to ask her to the ball. I could barely hear what they were saying.

"The two kingdoms have been enemies for centuries. It all began when," Christine started. Smart people can be really boring sometimes.

"So, what do you think of this ball thing?" Nathan asked.

"The Royal Ball is the largest party of the year. All the peasants in the kingdom come and The Royal Family have a special dance. It's a wonderful time, but hard to get ready for." Christine said.

"Do you think I should go?" He asked.

"To the ball? Of course! Everyone is invited. That includes you" she said.

"Well, some people don't want me there. That's why I was contemplating on going."

"You should go! It's held here in the palace. Since you're already here, might as well go. And I would want you there."

"Really? Then would you let me escort you to The Royal Ball?"

"Of course."

Yay! Finally! I'm a professional matchmaker. I should start a business.

Nathan headed my way. I acted like I was just reaching the library. When I saw him, he had the biggest grin on his face. I gave him a thumbs up and he walked away happily.

"Hey Christine. What's up with you and Nathan?" I asked as I walked into the library.

"Quit playing dumb, Princess. I saw you in the hallway" she said not looking up from her book.

"Whaaaat? I wasn't-" she gave me a look, "okay maybe a little but you guys are so cute. You'll get married. I can feel it."

"How do you feel something like that? It's impossible. Unless you're psychic."

"Oh hush. Anyway, I wanted to know if we have something on the history of The Land of Almost Here. Like, why we hate each other?"

"Well, from what I've read, we used to be one large kingdom. We were the most powerful. One day, the king and queen had a large argument. No one really knows what it was about. So, the king got mad and left. He took their only daughter with him. The queen stayed here with their only son. They removed each other from their family trees. They had many wars. This kingdom won them all because of strategy. The Land of Almost Here has been trying to conquer this kingdom ever since."

Dang. Talk about a family feud. That's terrible. But, if we've always won, I guess that's good.

"So, we used to be one big kingdom?" I asked.

"Yes, some people have wanted them to come back together. Some have wanted one to destroy the other. Some just don't care. I think Nathan wants us to take them down, though," she said. Huh.

"Well, as long as I get the joy of taking HER down, I'm fine with this. Thanks Christine," I said. She nodded and I left. That's a very interesting story.
