Chapter 14: Everything You Left Behind

"You need to go home." Emit told me.
"No. I'm not going back to Summerton." I shook my head.
"What about your dad and Ari? What about the triplets and junior? Juliet's? B there is so much you have left behind because of Greyson."
"I have had enough with Summerton boys."
"You think L.A is different?"
"I think a clean slate is what I need."
"You grew up without a mom right?"
"Yeah. So?"
"You are the closest thing Junior has to a mom. His mom left him just like yours. Do you want him to grow up without a mother figure or are you gonna change that?"
"I don't know."
"If you had to the choice to change whether someone grew up without a mother figure would you do it?"
"I'm not his mom." I threw the throw pillow on the couch.
"Come here." He pulled me into his arms. I acted like I didn't like it but truth was, there is nothing more comforting in the world than Emit's arms.
"Ok I will let you stay here under one condition."
"What?" I asked.
"You take Maddie and Sarah and you have a girls weekend and then you decide whether giving that all up is worth it."
"Where?" I asked.
"Anywhere you name it."
"Hawaii."
"Consider it booked." It was silent then he scuffed.
"Huh?"
"I can't believe you're willing to give up your entire life at Summerton for a guy."

I was pacing my room.
"Hey."
"What's up girl? How's L.A?" Sarah asked.
"Before or after the show?"
"Oh no what happened?"
"I'll tell you everything if you meet me in Hawaii this weekend."
"Ugh what?!"
"All expenses paid."
"Hell yeah! But I need to ask mommy."
"Greyson will cover for you."
"Yeah what's up with him lately? He's not himself."
"What has he been doing?"
"He's depressed and angry. Mommy had to talk about to him about how he should talk to the customers."
"By the way Maddie is coming with us."
"Oh I love madds."
"Ok I'll call you later."
"Ok bye."
"Bye." I hung up.
"Maddie's here." Emit yelled from downstairs.
"Hey." I said with a half smile.
"You rocked that show. I'm so proud of you!" Maddie said to Emit."
"Thanks."
"Ok so what did you want to talk about?" She turned to me.
"Want to have a girls weekend with Sarah?"
"Where?"
"Hawaii." Emit says.
"What's the accession?"
"No accession."
"Ok let's do it."
"Great."
"Hey why did you stay longer?" Emit turned around and walked into the kitchen.
"Because." Was all I could say.
"Ok let's go plan it." She started walking upstairs and I followed her. We sat in my bed.
"Ok what's wrong?"
"Greyson cheated on me." I just went out and said it.
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry." She hugged me.
"You know maybe he wasn't the one."
"I'm pretty sure he was but he blew it. This isn't on you B. If he needs to cheated on you then there is no reason for him to need you. You walked away with your head up and that is what matters."
"The triplets are gonna kill him." I laughed.
"Let's just keep Kendall out of jail."
"That would be good." I nodded.
"So I hear someone is an aunt."
"Yeah." I wiped my eye.
"Awe B! What's their name?"
"He name is Finn but we call him Junior."
"That is the cutest thing ever. I showed her a picture.
"How old his he?"
"18 months." I sniffled.
"Finn is really lucky."
"Hopefully it's not ken's."
"Wait what?"
"Finn and Kendall slept with the same girl. They don't know who's it is."
"Did they take a paternity test?"
"Yeah we are waiting for the results. It's gonna be hard to ready because their triplet brothers."
"But army they fraternal?"
"Yeah. I don't know in not a paternity tester person."
"You're gonna be fine. Put Greyson behind you."
"Yeah." I rested my head in her shoulder.
"Ok well I'm gonna call my husband and tell him about Hawaii."
"Ok." Her husband was a nerdy guy named Eli. Maddie left my room and I rested my back on the bed so I could stare at the ceiling.
"Mom where are you when I need you?"

I was at a diner by myself. I stirred my milkshake in a clockwise direction.
"Brinlynn?" I looked up and saw a women looking at me.
"How do you know my name?"
"I'm Cara Gates." She held out her hand.
"Wait you're an Actress right?"
"Movie director."
"How do you know me?" She started to cry.
"I'm your mom." I was shocked by the news she just told me.
"No you're not. My mom left me and my brothers. My mom hated us. My mom is not you. There is no way a cold heart women could become such a famous person." I stood up.
"Brinnlyn don't say that."
"You're not my mom." I put my jacket on.
"Brinnlyn Cara." I gulped.
"Born April 29th at 6:03 pm at Summerton hospital. I left November 14th at 3:30 am in the middle of the night. You have 3 brothers who are triplets: Kendall the oldest born at 9:17. Jacob in the middle born at 9:34. And last Finnegan born at 9:42. Those are my kids and I have a legitimate reason for leaving you. You are the Garrett children. But you're not."
"What do you mean?" I sat down. I was still trying to soak up everything she just said.
"I left because I knew that none of you were Kevin's kids." Kevin is my dads name.
"What are you saying?"
"I was cheating on your father."
"How do you know this?"
"The man I cheated with has a history or twins and triplets in his family. I knew that you and your brothers are not his kids." My whole life was a lie. My mom told us that she just left but really it was my dad that made her. For 24 years I thought he was my father and I thought my mother left us. And so happy that that is Not the case. I'm so happy that I have a mom now.
"Does my father know I exist?"
"He's my husband."
