It felt strange to be back in the dorms.
"I missed you," Dongmei said sweetly while attacking me with a hug.
"I also missed you," I said with a chuckle, hugging her back tightly.
"Thank you for keeping in touch, though. I really appreciated that."
Despite the many days that I spent without seeing Dongmei, I did manage to text her every day.
But something felt off. Nothing negative happened between us, but I feel as if things just aren't the same."No problem," I smile.
"We should have a girls' day," she requests. I thought about it for a second, and I don't think it's a bad idea. We haven't actually spent quality time with each other in awhile.
"Shall we do that tonight? I kind of wanted to nap today..." I trail off. I don't know why I've been feeling so tired recently.
Dongmei let out the heaviest sigh I think I've ever heard.
"I suppose...."
"You know what," I begin. "I'll just start getting ready now. Where do you want to go?"
Dongmei beamed, "Maybe we can go to the cinema."
"Hmm," I hummed while pulling out my cellphone to check the time. "I don't know which films are showing."
"You know," she began while tapping her chin. "I've got a better idea. Why don't we walk around the city and find something to do there. I would offer to stay inside, but I think you've done that enough with Kai."
I chuckled slightly, nodding my head.
Although, Kai does a great job at taking me out. Yet I often find myself wanting to simply stay inside and cuddle all day.Trudging into my room, I search for a different outfit to wear. But my mind was busy. I have a strange feeling that something new is going to happen, even though I'm not quite sure what that is yet.
Dongmei's humming echoed through the dorm, and my mouth hesitantly twitched up into a smile.
"Are you almost finished?" She yelled.
I flinched, scurrying to put my clothes on.
"Yeah," I called back. "Just give me one more minute."* * *
When we had finally reached the town, a wave of excitement went through me.
"What do you want to do?" I inquired, looking around at all of the beautiful surroundings. I really appreciate this city.
"Hmm..." She trailed. "I'm hungry, we should find a restaurant first."
I allowed Dongmei to lead me towards her favorite restaurant. But as we were walking, she stopped dead in her tracks.
"Well, never mind."
"What?" I blurt.
"It looks like I won't have you all to myself, even on our girl's day." Dongmei gestured forward, and my eye followed.
There was Kai, standing outside a shop. He was scrolling through his phone, not paying any attention to the things going on around him.
"Wait here, okay?"
"No, it's okay. Have fun and I'll go get something to eat."
"Why? We can hang out when I'm finished talking to him."
"I don't want to hang out. When you get back to the dorm, we will have a movie marathon."
"But-"
