*The Pit is in the picture*

I woke up to the sun streaming down in my face and wolves moving around our makeshift camp. Drake turned his big head to me and licked my muzzle.Good morning Gorgeous. I nuzzled my head into his side. Good morning Handsome! When do we leave? He stood and shook his fur. Right now. He jumped up onto he rock above us and the pack gathered below him and stared up at him. Good morning pack! We have a few more hours to go before we reach The Pit. I hope you all are good and rested up because we will be on our way in just a few minutes.  He jumped down from the rock and the pack visibly shook with excitement. Drake looked at me and I stood and shook the dirt and moss from my coat. Drake motioned for me to come stand beside him and when I did he barked loudly and we took off toward the creek. Everyone followed closely and we got weaved through the trees until we reached the meadow. We passed the tall grass and stood in a line at the edge of the creek. Drake turned to look at everyone. Kent, Luke, Olivia, and myself will stand on the water as you cross in the middle of us. If anyone gets swept sideway in the current we will be there to catch you and get you back on the right path. Mark and John, both of you will go first and scout the other side. Make sure we arent stepping out in front of any danger. You will go in groups of 5 across the creek. Seperate into you groups and when I raise my tell each group will cross. Ok? All the wolves nodded and us four went into the water and stood a few feet apart until we stretched across the entire creek. Drake raised his tails and the big wolves, Mark and John, crossed first. The water drug at their belly fur and Mark was swept sideways toward me. I grabbed his scruff and shouldered him along toward Kent and he passed him to Luke who passed him to Drake and he made it out on the land. He shook his coat and him and John both slunk off in opposite directions. Drake raised his tail and another group stepped forward. They stepped into the water and the front ones jumped back at the cold. A growl from Drake brought them forward and they crossed with no complications. All the groups passed without complications except for the last group. When they stepped up a pup was among them. He was the youngest pup allowed to go and he was quite small compared to everyone else. Instead of the water going to his belly it went passed his shoulders. He made it about halfway across when a moving rock knocked his paws out from under him. His head went under and his mother shot forward to grab is scruff but missed. He broke our line and his hear emerged a few yards down the creek and into a deeper part. His paws churned in the water as he tried to keep his head afloat. I jumped toward him and my height was my advantage. I kept my balance in the water and ran to grab him before he could go any further. I grabbed his scruff and instinctivly he went limp. That caused him to become a limp, wet heavy dead weight. It drug me forward into the water and I just barely caught my self. I turned and raised my head to carry the shivering bundle above the water. My neck ached as I pushed against the current. The rest of the group had made it across and his mother was pacing on the other side of the creek. She whined occasionally and looked expectantly at me. Relief flooded her eyes when she seen her son. Luke was the closet so he swam the rest of the way toward me to take the pup. He carried him back to the other side. I drug myself up the side the creek and plopped down in the sunwarmed grass trying to catch my breath. Drake loped up to me and licked the water from my fur Olivia are you ok! Why the hell did you do that? I could have grabbed him! I stood up and shoved him off me when he raised his voice. The hair along my back raised and I growled back. I was the closest one to him! You were to far away. There is no way you would have been able to reach him in time. You could thank me instead of scolding me for saving a pup! Drake looked taken a back and my sudden outburst. I gave him one last growl before shouldering my way past him. I walked over to where the mother was vigorisly licking her pup trying to get him warm. Is he ok? I asked her hesitantly. Yes Luna I think he will be fine. Thank you so much for saving him! I started helping her lick him and he stirred as he got warmer. Out of the corner of my eye I seen Drake stand up on a log. As soon as the pup gets warm and is walking again we will continue on until we get to The Pit. He jumped down and walked toward me. Im sorry. I overreacted. I was just worried about you. I looked at him and his eyes were sincere. Ok Babe. I forgive you. I nuzzled him and licked his ear. The pup stood up his mom pushed him into the center of the pack. Drake went to the front and I stood beside him. He raised his tail and we all took off toward the mountains. The wind whipped through our fur and we ran for hours. We stopped to hunt, breaking up into our groups again. I walked up to the mom and still shivering pup. I will hunt for the both of you. Linda please take you pup to the hollowed out tree over there. I pointed with my tail to the tree. Pup him inside and you get in to and put him on the tree side and you lay in front of the hole. The tree will block the warm and your body heat will warm him quickly. She bowed her head. Yes Luna. Thank you. I left her to her orders and walked off with Drake to go and hunt. I found and killed a rabbit for Linda and a squirrel for myself. Drake came back dragging a small hog. Nice catch! I told him wagging my tail. There is plenty here if the squirrel is not enough. I walked back to the camp where many of the pack had already gathered to eat. Out of respect they waited for their Alphas. I gave the rabbit to Linda and layed down beside Drake. I bit into ny squirrel and he bit into his hog. After seeing us eat everyone else did too. After we ate we layed down to rest for an hour before starting again. As we were about to leave a ferial growl ripped through the camp. Oh no not again. I looked up and a giant cougar jumped down from a tree. He hissed and growled again. Jumping up and swiping his claws. Drake. Me, you, Luke, and Kent can take him. We need to sorround him and get him tired. Then I can grab his throat. Got it. Everyone nofded and took their position. All the other wolves formed a ring so the cat couldnt get out. We each started taking shots at him. Dodging with unnatural speed whenever he would swing his large claws at us. We all towered over him but he was still strong. When his movements got sluggish and he became more vocal I made my move. I lunged for his throat and latched on wrapping my paws around his neck so the couldnt get away. His claws raked down my back but his blood was flowing freely now. Drake and Luke grabbed his paws and got them off my back. The cats fighting was getting weaker and eventually his struggle stopped. His breathing was shallow and he hardly moved. When I released my grip on his throat a rush of blood came out and he stopped breathing all together. My back stung from the deep cuts but I was already healing. Ok lets get gling in case there is another one in the area. Drake announced over the link. One by one the wolves broke the ring and started walking un the right direction. Drake and I got back to our position in the front and kept walking. Everyone got excited as we neared The Pit. Drake stopped everyone when we were 100 yards away. I was confused until he got over the link. As of tradition we will have our pack howl and then race to The Pit. The wolves that have not gone will go first starting with the Luna. Then the other wolves will trickle in behind. Drake linked me seperatly. We will start the howl now. When he raised his head I raised mine. We let out a beatiful duet of howls and then the rest of the pack joined in. It was amazing the be apart of somthing so wonderful. When we were finished with out howl we all raced off to The Pit with me in the lead. My feet thudded heavily on the cold ground. The frigid wind was sucked into my lungs so hard it hurt ,but it felt good to run for the fun of it, because I wanted to not because if I didnt I would be shocked or burnt.  When I got to the giant hole in the rock I stopped. Somewhere in me I was afraid to see what was on the otherside of the darkness.
