I couldn't believe what I saw. This was amazing to see. I have never been to Venice before but I've heard a lot about it. It was so beautiful and shiny. Hell I felt like a giddy little kid. I surveyed everywhere around me. I saw tall buildings, boats on the water in the middle of the streets. Actually there were no streets. Just the water that filled in the gaps between the buildings. This was absolutely stupendous. The water was shining brightly due to the sun and there was nothing but boats everywhere around me. I started to walk out of the building that I was in and continued to look around me.
"This is amazing Giovanni. Truly amazing. It feels like I'm in a dream. If that is so I never want to wake up."
I heard Giovanni walk up behind me and he slapped my back. Yeah I wasn't dreaming. This was all real. Everything. I was really in Venice.
"Come on Marcus. I have some Florins so lets get some food from the market."
I looked over at him and nodded in agreement. I was starting to get hungry for some food. Besides, I haven't eaten anything in quite awhile.
We started to walk around the city and what I heard about Venice was true. There were markets everywhere. Shops that you can buy paintings from, weapon shops that you can purchase different blades and smoke bombs for quick escapes and even more!
Now, there wasn't any time to be sightseeing because there is always danger around us no matter where we are but as we walked I was listening to Giovanni talk to me.
"Marcus, in Venice we are perfectly safe from all those who want to harm us. The only thing we have to fear is thieves and guards that patrol the streets. Where we were was the hide out that me and a couple of friends have made before I was caught. Venice is a peaceful place where nothing happens. Well, nothing bad that is. You always have festivals and whatnot. My favorite time of the year is when Carnevale comes. You can be merry and gay all you want and there is no one to stop us from having fun. There is food and drinks and even games that you can play. Marcus, have you ever been to Carnevale?"
I looked over at him and shook my head.
"No, I haven't been to Carnevale. Actually I've never been outside my hometown. This is my first time in Venice and I'm glad that I can be here with a friend like you."
He smiled at me and then slowed down to walk next to me. It was good to have a friend like Giovanni because I can explore new and better things that I've never been able to explore when I was living with my family.
We continued to walk around Venice until we stopped at a vendor who was selling fresh fruit and meat.
"Well look what the cat dragged in! Giovanni how are you doing? It's been awhile since I've seen you. And what do you know you've brought a friend with you."
I stayed close to Giovanni due to the fact I wasn't really good with talking with other people.
"Hey Raymond, I'm doing well now. This here is my friend Marcus. We would like to purchase some food today. Lots of it because it's a celebration for us and some other friends."
Giovanni grinned and Raymond smiled.
"Well then I'll give you the usual."
Raymond walked away and now it was just Giovanni and I again.
