As the sun was rising Giovanni and I were outside of the house talking about different subjects. Learning how to fight, control my blood lust, how to escape a fight and what not. As we were talking I could feel a presence. Someone was watching us. I looked around and saw something hiding behind a barrel. I walked over to it and saw hair so I grabbed it and pulled the person up. It was a small, slender male with white hair. I glared at him and he looked at me. It wasn't a look of fear but a look of curiosity.

"Whoa easy there Marcus. He's one of us. Human but one of us."

I looked at him and nodded then let go of his hair.

"I'm sorry about that. Giovanni, who is he?"

He looked at me with a smile.

"Marcus, I would like to introduce Patrizio Costan. He's one of our informers and spies for the deamons. Well he's in training right now for us and is trying to perfect his skills right now."

"I see."

"Patrizio you did a good job on your spying but I could still manage to sniff you out. Remember the only way for a deamon or a vampire to not notice you is to always stay out of their range and if you can't do that then mask your scent with something so that no one can find you."

Patrizio nodded and then he started to look me over like I was someone that he's never seen before. There was something odd about this person and I couldn't figure it out. Giovanni said he was a human but there's something quite not right. But I decided to let it go for now. It was until then he decided to get closer to me and started to move me around like I was some sort of marionette. I looked over at Giovanni and he just looked back at me with a smile. I guess that this is a normal thing for Patrizio to do so I'll have to just deal with it. He then stopped at stared at me again. I looked back with a small smile and when I did that he started to form a wide smile on his face.

"So Patrizio, how long have you known Giovanni?"

He looked over at Giovanni and started to think to himself and then as he was about to open his mouth he closed it and looked down.

"Sorry Marcus I should have told you. Many years ago the council cut out his tongue because he found out about us by accident. Afterwards he was assigned to me to watch over him and then the council decided to put him to use. It was either train under me to spy for the council, or die. He decided to work for us and ever since then he's been working with me trying to perfect his skills."

Giovanni smiled at Patrizio and he smiled back at him then he looked at me.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know but now I do."

Patrizio nodded and then waved at Giovanni and I then ran away to the streets. I looked over at Giovanni and he was just smiling.

"Come on Marcus. There's some people that I want you to meet today. I think that you'll like them. They even might like you."

I didn't know what he meant but I just went along with what he said. We got onto a boat and sailed out of Venice and over to the neighboring island and then got horses and rode out to the west. I was curious where we were going but I didn't ask any questions.
