As we were running we could hear bells ringing in the distance from the church. I'm guessing that it's Sunday morning and that congregation was starting but we could also hear shouting from the rooftops. As we were running we were knocking over other people but I didn't care. I just wanted to get as far away from that place as quick as I could. I looked over my shoulder and saw Giovanni right behind me but he was slowing down. I didn't know why he was being se slow. Doesn't he know we have to run? I guess that he's not as worried as I am. As we were running we went to an ally and hid there for a while. We started to catch our breath. Giovanni put down Ramsa and stretched out. We could still hear yelling from the distance but no running. I guess that we weren't being chased which was a good thing. I looked over at him as he was leaning against the wall.
"What do we do now Giovanni? We need to do something."
He looked over at me and then started to laugh. I raised a brow not knowing why he was laughing.
"What's so funny? We were almost caught back there!"
"I find the whole thing funny. Especially you knocking out Ramsa. That was amazing! I have never seen a fight like that in a long time so I didn't know what to expect from you."
I looked at him with a quizzical look and then scoffed at him even though he kept on laughing his head off. I then sat down on the ground and started to think about what to do next. I then heard a groan coming from Ramsa.
"He's waking up Giovanni."
Giovanni stopped laughing and then he looked down at Ramsa and knelt down to his level. He started to sit up but I could tell that he was dazed and confused because he was wobbling a lot.
"What happen Giovanni? All I remember was fighting the brat and then I think that I blacked out."
"Well Ramsa the Pope knocked you out as you both were fighting."
Giovanni looked at me and winked. I smiled and nodded showing that I understood what he was doing. Ramsa then tried to get up but he couldn't because of the wound on his head. He felt it and looked at his hand showing that there was a small amount of blood coming from his head. I wonder how much blood we could lose. I have no idea why I even thought that. Oh well.
I watched Ramsa slowly stand up. He looked at me and he had an evil look in his eyes like he wanted to kill me. I knew now that I could beat him in a fight but I really don't want to go through with that again because I knew this time that I wouldn't even stand a chance against him so I just stood there watching him as he scoffed and started to walk away. I didn't really care about him but I knew that Giovanni did so I guess that I'll have to get use to him. For now that is. I looked over at Giovanni and saw him watch Ramsa walk away. He looked over at me and smiled and walked over and then patted my shoulder.
"Come on Marcus. Let's head back."
I looked at him and nodded in agreement and we started to head back to the house. It took us about an hour walking since we couldn't ride any horses back because we wouldn't have anywhere to put them and no place to feed them as well so we just walked back. Once we passed the fish market we arrived back at the house. I was so grateful that we arrived back in one piece. I opened the door but something was blocking the way. I pushed against the door and looked down and then I saw blood on the floor. I quickly looked back at Giovanni and he came up and looked and then pushed the door open more. Once we saw what was on the inside our eyes grew wide. There was a male corpse laying on the ground and it looked like the he was stabbed since there was a knife lodged in his chest. But we looked closer and saw that there was a note on him. Giovanni looked down at the person and removed the knife and the note from his chest and started to read aloud.
To Giovanni and the pup.
This is just a warning that has been bestowed upon you and your little friend that you have brought into your life. I ask you to leave Venice and never come back or else there will be another death that will leave you speechless and hopeless. And no I'm not talking to you Giovanni but to the little newborn that you have hanging around like a lost puppy dog. You will never see it coming but then again you may. Who knows but I will say this again. LEAVE VENICE OR ELSE. This will be just a warning like I said before. But maybe you don't even deserve a warning but a full fledge kick in the ass. But then again that'll come on the day that we finally meet. Which will be soon so there's no rush.
Sincerely,
M.
Giovanni looked over at me with a concerned look and just pocketed thenote and said nothing as he went to his room. I watched him and then looked atthe body and groaned which meant that it was up to me to get rid of the body. Ijust hope that there will be no more bodies piling up.
