it was late in the night and I was dead tired and I wanted to go to bed and that's exactly what I'm going to do. I put the parchment away as well as the translation sheet and went to the bed. As soon as I laid my head down I fell right to sleep. As I slept I started to dream again. I was in a dark room with no light anywhere to be seen. My feet were shackled to the ground as I tried to walk. I was going nowhere and every time I tried to move the chain was getting smaller and smaller with every step. I stopped movie and I then sat on the ground. It was cold and damp against me. And then, all of a sudden, I felt something hit me. It was wet and as I looked up I was struck again.
"Rain?" I wondered and as I kept looking the liquid started to come down more heavily. Then out of nowhere there was a loud clash that surrounded me and following that was a struck of light. How can there be a storm if I can't see any clouds? I was getting drenched in water and I didn't have anything to cover myself. I sat there, waiting. I felt like I was waiting for something or someone to come along and help me but after a while there was no one who came. As the storm raged on I could feel a gentle breeze coming from some direction. I was getting cold now and then the coldness turned to freezing. Freezing like the winter snow that falls to the ground. As the rain fell I then could hear footsteps coming towards me. The sound became louder as they hit the puddles on the ground. I looked around me but I couldn't see anything in this darkness.
"Who's there?" I called out and there was no response. After a minute I then felt something touch the top of my head. It felt like a hand. A woman's hand to be precise. The hand was rubbing my head softly like how a mother rubs the head of a newborn child. Then the person spoke in a soft yet gentle voice.
"My child do not fret or be afraid for I am with you in your endeavors and through all of your hardships."
The person sounded familiar but I couldn't think of who it was. It was a woman's voice that was for sure and when I thought about it it became clear of who it was. I started to tear up for now I know that she is dead now after these many years. I took the woman's hand and held it as I cried. I knew that anything that I could do wouldn't bring her back.
"It is time for you to wake up now Marcus. Wake up and live."
As soon as she said that the surrounding area became bright as the sun light. I awoke with tears in my eyes and I then sat up and there in the corner was Giovanni. He looked at me and I looked at him and our eyes locked on each other and it felt like a lifetime was passing by. Then he got up and sat next to me and put a hand on my shoulder.
"Giovanni, I dreamt of my mother. And I think that she's dead."
