It was the next morning and I didn't want to get out of bed. I just wanted to stay there and sleep. I had a pounding headache and like I said I don't really remember much. I knew that I had to get up because now I could hear footsteps coming to my room. I saw the door open and in comes Giovanni. I groaned and held my head and he looked at me and snickered. I glared at him and then threw my pillow right in his face. He dogged it and came back in.
"Well good morning sunshine. How did you sleep?"
I looked at him and groaned again and slowly sat up.
"What the hell happened last night?"
Giovanni looked at me and tried his hardest not to laugh.
"Well Marcus you got blood drunk. It's a tradition, well I should say my tradition, that when a deamon or vampire becomes eighteen they are to be taken out to a tavern to get drunk off of blood. And don't worry nothing bad happened. I got you home safely and you passed right out when you hit the bed."
I looked at him and nodded then laid back down but then I felt Giovanni yank me up from the bed and then stood me up.
"We have to much work to do today so there will be no rest. But I do have something that can get rid of what you're feeling."
He went out the back of the room and then came back a few minutes later with a mug. He handed it to me and I sniffed it and coughed. It smelt of spices and blood. I didn't know what would affect me more. The blood or the spices? But I knew that I had to drink it. So I took a deep breath and gulped it down. I coughed again and then my eyes shot wide open.
"What was that stuff man?" Giovanni looked at me and smiled.
"Well if you must know it was an egg, blood, and a ton of different spices." I looked at him and cleared my throat. That drink sure did wake me up and my head didn't hurt anymore.
"So, what are we doing today Giovanni?"
He looked at me with a grin and pulled me to the table that was outside my door. There laid the bag that he had when we were planning on killing the pope. My eyes widen and looked at him.
"Relax we're not doing anything like that. No, today we will be sparring. You do know how to fight don't you?"
I nodded at him and then he patted my back and handed me a sword to use. He then took a sword of his own and walked outside and motioned me to follow him. I followed him to the back of the house and there was a huge ring that was floating right in the middle of the ocean. I stared in amazement at it and smiled but then again Giovanni might not go easy on me so I had to be mentally and physically prepared. Giovanni opened the gate that let to the center of the ring and we both stepped inside. He took to the center of the ring and I stood right in front of him and we both had our swords in hand.
"Now. The first thing that you must do is position yourself. Get in a stance that you are comfortable with. You must keep your stance strong or else your opponent with have the chance to knock you down. Now, show me your stance."
I looked at him and nodded and then got into my fighting stance. My feet were spread apart and I had both of my hands held tightly on the handle of the sword. Giovanni walked over to me and tried to move me. He put his hands on my shoulders and tried to shake me. It was kind of easy to shake me but now it was hard to. I had a strong stance and Giovanni nodded with approval.
