It was late at night and was dead tired. I couldn't write anymore due to my hand cramping up. I sighed and rubbed it then sat the quill down. I got up and headed to my room. I laid down on the bed and then closed my eyes. I then started to dream.

I was standing in a field in the dark. The wind was howling and there were no buildings to be seen. I looked up at the starry sky and smiled. I never thought that the stars could be so beautiful in the night. I mean compared to a sunrise and a sunset the stars couldn't be any better. I breathed in the cool night air and smiled more. The night was so peaceful. I didn't know how it could get any better than this.

As the wind was blowing I fell down to the ground in the cool grass. I closed my eyes and listened to the sounds of nature. The crickets were chirping and the wind kept blowing. It wasn't a cold wind nor a warm wind. It was the kind were you could just sit back and enjoy the surroundings. After a while the wind had stopped and there was now silence. The crickets have stopped chirping and as I opened my eyes I could tell that it got even darker than it was before. I slowly stood up and looked around. I couldn't tell if I was in the field or not but I knew that I was somewhere. As I was looking I then saw a bright light. I didn't know whether or not to walk to it. After thinking for a while I made the decision to walk to it and as I got closer I heard the sounds of metal clashing against metal. The light got brighter and as soon as I stepped out of if I saw people fighting against each other. There was blood everywhere I saw. The sound of yelling was everywhere around me. I started to panic and then I saw a familiar face. It was Giovanni! I tried to call out to him but he couldn't hear me over the screaming. I started to run to him without getting caught in the crossfire. I was passing a person when all of a sudden he was struck down with an arrow to the chest. He growled and then looked at me then ripped the arrow out and then started to come to me. As he was coming I saw his eyes and there were black as coal. He was either a deamon or a vampire. I didn't want to find out so I ran away from him over to Giovanni. As I was getting closer I felt a pain hit me in the back. I stopped and reached behind me and felt an arrow in my back. I tried to pull it out but I didn't have the strength to. I fell to my knees and then I saw Giovanni see me and his eyes widen and ran over to me. He dropped behind me and pulled the arrow out of my back. He got me to my feet and then started to run to a dried up river. We jumped down in the river and then he looked at me and started to examine my body and then spoke.

"What in the world are you doing here?! You're not supposed to be here. This is my nightmare. I don't know why you're in it. I've had this recurring dream for a long time but never had I seen you in here before."

"Giovanni, I don't even know what I'm doing here either. I was just having my own dream when I saw this white light in the distance and I went to it and then I ended up here. Where are we anyways?"

Giovanni looked above the river then back at me.

"Well as you can see it's a battlefield and this a is a war. It is a war that has been going on for centuries between the demons and the vampires and it has not come to an end. I don't know why I am having this dream but it always ends the same. Slaughter and demise. That's all that happens here."

I looked at him in disbelief but what else was I supposed to believe. It's not like I can die here. After a minute Giovanni looked above the river and then his eyes widen and saw that there was a soldier coming for him. Once I saw that as well Giovanni pushed me down and he attacked the man. Then I heard a scream. I quickly looked up and saw that the man had struck Giovanni in the chest with his sword. The man was grinning and then looked at me and as I looked at him anger started to boil inside me. I quickly jumped out on the river and ran to them both and as I was running I quickly grabbed a rock from the ground then I jumped in the air at the killer and struck him in the head as he was getting his sword out of Giovanni. I then dropped the rock and took Giovanni's sword and struck the demon in the heart. I heard his gruesome yell as I twisted the sword in him. He tried to reach for the blade and as soon as he got it out he knelt to his knees as I stood in front of him. I pointed the sword at his neck and then in one quick swipe his head came off. I panted as his blood sprayed on me and I just watched. I watched him as he died and then I heard a gurgle. I turned around and saw Giovanni on the ground. I quickly went over to him and fell to my knees. I took his hand in mine and he smiled.

"D-don't worry Marcus. This happens all the time. I die every time I have this dream." He took one final breath. And then, he died in my arms. He started to disappear and everything around me came to a stop. I don't know why but I felt a tear roll down my face. Then everything went black and my eyes opened and I saw my room. I slowly sat up from my bed and then got up and walked out to Giovanni's room. As I was about to knock I heard him tell me to come in. And so I did. I slowly went in there and once I saw him He was sitting on his bed looking at me. I closed the door behind me and then sat at the edge of the bed. Giovanni looked at me and then put his hand on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry that you had to see all that."

"Giovanni, how did I enter your dream?"

He looked at me for a minute and then spoke.

"I guess you're a dream hopper. I've never met one that could do it but I've heard of it from others. It's an ability where a person can go into another's dream."

I looked at him and nodded and wiped myeyes. I could feel the tears come but I didn't let them show. I looked past himand out his window and as I looked the sun was coming up. I smiled softly andthen looked at Giovanni and he was smiling to. You know something? I'm glad tohave a friend like him. But how long would I have to spend time with him.
