HEX (The Flash FanFic)

CH: 12 ~~ZOE~~

I moved through the rooftops late in the night, I was tracking a location Cisco gave me that he detected some weird energy that wasn't Dark Matter related and made him swear to keep it to himself until I said otherwise. I stood in front of Mercury Labs, it was strange why would Parasite be here it would be too obvious for me to track him here. I moved towards the building when I saw someone in a lab coat emerged from inside looking in pain, blood covered his lab coat as he stumbled to the ground. I rushed to his side taking him into my arms and I saw a huge hole gaped in his chest just like the past three victims, the man couldn't speak with the pain and I tried to help him. 

"Who did this to you?" I whispered cradling him into my arms, he gagged I could see his heart looked like someone squished it against there grip.

"F...fff.....Flash..." he stuttered before his entire body went limp in my grip, his breaths vanished and he was now dead in my arms. I touched his eyelids closing them with my fingers lowering my head not sure how to take what he said to me. 

"Cisco...call Joe, tell him we have another victim at Mercury Labs." I started this couldn't be Barry, he wouldn't do this would he? No of course not, how stupid of me to even think that when I sensed a familiar energy coming from the building snapping me from my thoughts. The energy was calling out to me and I knew exactly what it was, I prayed I was right. Was this all Parasite all along? I ran towards the door leaving the dead doctor on the floor and vanished into the building. "Hold that thought Cisco...I'm going to check something out."

"Zo maybe I should call Barry? I don't like the readings I am getting from Mercury Labs." Cisco replied into my headset, I couldn't let Cisco call Barry until I knew for sure what was inside because if it was Parasite then Barry could be endanger.

"Standby Cisco, I'm going in." I whispered moving slowly through the empty dark halls feeling the energy flow through me and leading me somewhere. The mixture of different sounds made my head snap in all different directions and then I made my way into a lab that the energy was leading me too. There was no one in there, not Parasite and not even my grandfather which was strange since I sensed his energy here. I heard the sound of Barry's speed push behind me, my dark hair flapped in the wind and I slammed my fist into the desk in front of me. Cisco called Barry after I told him not to."They were here...damnit..." I hissed into the silence not I was expecting Barry to say something to convince me not to give up hope but nothing. I turned to see a man in all black with blue lightning bouncing off his body and his face looked monstrous with pure black eyes. Before I could speak the dark monster used his speed to lash his hand across my throat, he had powers like Barry did and I struggled to speak.

"Tell me where is The Flash and I'll let you live..." he answered with vibrations making it hard to identify who this speedster was and I felt his grip tighten against my throat.

"Wha...t do...yo...u w...ant fr...om hi...m?" I coughed struggling to speak with his hand tight on my neck pushing on my vocal cords making it impossible to speak clearly.

"He has something I want and he is going to give it to me even if it means I have to take it from his dead body." the monster's voice replied something inside me became very angry, I didn't know what came over me but my blue eyes became purple. 

"You killed them? You killed those innocent people, why?" I spat seeing him laughing almost manically while I tried to break his grip on my throat.

"I hoped to get the Flash's attention so he would come to investigate but I guess I have to deal with his sidekick instead." he laughed I was no one's sidekick as I focused hard then sent a wave of telekinetic energy in between us and it forced the monster to release my throat when he flew backwards. I stumbled coughing hard from the pain in my throat, after regained my footing I looked around for the speedster. The entire room was silent as I moved towards the broken desk where the speedster crashed, there was a huge window behind it and I could see I was about ten floors up. 

"Cisco?" I started when the sounds of whoosh echoed behind me and when I turned around I saw the monster charging at me at full force cutting me off. I couldn't react fast enough with my magic when he made impacted to my chest sending me backwards into the window, it shattered with my back impacting the glass. The cold wind brushed past me, I felt myself falling to the ground and I braced myself for the impact to come tightening every muscle in my body. There was no escaping this one, I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. The sound of whoosh moved up next to me and I felt a pair of arms grab me and stopped me from falling below. I opened my eyes to see it was Barry moving at his maximum speed to save me and we made it to the floor without any pain. He was wearing his normal attire when he dropped to his knees holding me close to him and with heavy breaths I began to glance up seeing the shattered glass above. I saw the shadow figure was no longer standing there, he was gone and whatever he wanted Barry's life was the one at risk.

"Zoe...are you okay?" Barry yelled snapping me out of my gaze and locking my eyes with him seeing the fear in his eyes. I moved a slight bit wincing when I felt something pushing against my backside and I looked up at Barry.

"There is something in my side." I gasped feeling a sharp sting again in my body as the adrenaline began to wear off me, I looked down seeing a large glass shard in my side of my lower back from the window.

"Cisco...Zoe's hurt, I'm bringing her back to the Cortex for medical attention." Barry replied in his earpiece that he had when he didn't wear his mask, I felt his arms pick me up again and my body nuzzled up in his grip. I winced a small bit feeling my head cradled against his chest when he sped us through Central City then to S.T.A.R. Labs and into the Cortex. He moved us to the medical wing then lowered my body onto the bed with Caitlin preparing to remove the shard, I felt Barry grab my hand for support. "Everything is going to be alright Zoe, just breathe out when she pulls it out." Caitlin slowly pulled the glass shard from my side, the pain wasn't that bad since Oliver trained me to numb myself from all pain to be a warrior. I squeezed Barry's hand into my grasp as the shard was removed completely and I sighed with relief. Caitlin offered to wrap up my wound but I shook my head no to her, I could heal it with ease and my magic.

"Leah Ym Dnuow...Leah Ym Dnuow..." I silently chanted feeling my skin slowly stretch over the wound and soon vanished to nothing but dry blood. I sat up now stretching my side and I noticed Barry sitting in the chair I sat the day before.

"What the hell? Why did you go off on your own? What happened at Mercury Labs?" he asked to be honest I had no idea what happened, I could only remember the impact of the window and the long fall not sure what I even saw.

"I have no idea...whoever attacked and killed that doctor is the same person who killed the other three victims. The wound was the same as the others but whoever they were, they were a ghost too hard for me to see." I lied I wasn't sure how to even explain to Barry that there was another speedster in Central City or to explain that the speedster wanted to kill him. Barry nodded when Caitlin called for him leaving me alone to heal fully, I could feel a knot form in my stomach for lying to Barry but that was the only option I had right now. If Barry was going to help me then I had to keep that other speedster's a secret for right now.
