For once I had a slight hangover when I walked into the CCPD the next morning with two coffees in my hands as I took the stairs to get to the Lab. When I turned I saw Zoe was pacing the floor of the Lab, I knew she was now really worried since there was only one more day until the Comet. She looked at me and I handed her the coffee which she willfully accepted putting it to her lips then placing it onto the desk.
"How's your head? Did you finally experience a hangover?" she asked sitting at her desk now, I took a sip of my coffee and sat in the seat next to her.
"Yeah...for once my head actually hurts. I'll be okay though, how about you?" I wondered she looked at me I could see in her face that she had a million thoughts running through her brain and one being a hangover was the most dominant. I decided to just leave it at that, I was going through some other cases that we had while I noticed Zoe was looking at Thomas Hotta's file again. I knew she was trying to track down some lead some answer to all of this but so far nothing was sure. What felt like hours had past especially with the silence between Zoe and I and I felt like I needed to say something. "I know this is going to sound horrible but what happens during the transference spell?"
"Exactly how it's sounds, The older Magi transfers their magic to the younger Magi during the celestial event." she replied I could tell she wasn't in the mood to actually go into details, she put both hands onto the back of her head and I could see she was now worried.
"I mean what would you need to do the spell? Like candles? A Sacrifice?" I asked she looked up at me, I could see the glare in her eyes and I could tell she thought I was stupid.
"No...you just need to be at a place that the full moon and the event is at the highest point like almost right over them. My mother said normally near a place that is connected to the five major magical Elements..." she answered stopping her words looking up at me, I tilted my head watching her stand up going through paperwork and moving around me like she figured something out. "Do you have a map of Central City?"
"Yeah on the other side of the board, why?" I asked she moved towards the one side taking a piece of blank white paper that was on a roll which was big enough to cover the board. I flipped to the map side watching her attach the piece of paper to the map and looked around to see there was a projector on the side of the room. I watched her take it moving it to the middle of the room and flashing it on seeing the map through the paper.
"You know Central City better than anyone and you just reminded me of something important. Parasite needs to be somewhere where the five magical Elements are at there strongest; Metal, Fire, Water, Wood and Aether. And before you ask Air and Earth don't count because we stand on the Earth and the Air is everywhere around us." she started pressing a marker to her lips, I could see what she was talking about and I turned to face the board with her.
"Okay so metal? The Lawrence Hill's Industrial Metal plant which is right here." I answered pointing to the Industrial plant on the map, she handed me the marker and I placed a dot on the paper holding it against the map.
"Okay Fire?" she replied I looked at the map my eyes speed scanning the entire map seeing only one place that could represent that Element.
"The Central City Fire station?" I asked she shook her head no which was confusing since that would be the only connection to Fire sign.
"That would be too obvious, maybe not exactly fire but maybe electrical?" she exclaimed my eyes went wide when I remembered the one Metahuman I faced a long time ago, Farooq Gibran aka Blackout.
"What about Petersburg Electrical Substation?" I asked she nodded that it would make sense and I pressed a small black dot on the station which was diagonal to the plant.
"Now for Water? That would be the Central City Waterfront where I confronted Parasite earlier in the week." she reminded I remember that day, she put me to sleep in order to go off alone in the fight but I didn't want to argue about that since she apologized about it. She marked the Waterfront down on the map and I began thinking of the next Element; Wood. "Though it wouldn't fit under the category but what about the train station?"
"It is made from Wood and the tracks have wood in them so it works." I added she nodded when I pointed to the station and marked it with another dot leaving only one more Element; Aether. My eyes scanned the entire area and my eyes fell onto one place that could have the necessary energy to be considered Aether. "S.T.A.R. Labs? After the Particle Accelerator exploded the place became covered with Dark Matter and different energies. Maybe that could be Aether?"
"You're right, I should've thought of that first." she answered marking S.T.A.R. Labs on the map, we both backed away staring at the five dots on the paper. I saw Zoe move to her desk taking out the yardstick from the other side and moved to the wall. She traced the dots creating a pentagram first then she drew a star leaving only one location in the middle of the smaller pentagram. She moved away and I moved up next to her seeing the location on the map, my eyes went wide.
"That's the Trickster's Lair." I replied turning to look at Zoe who seemed to have a smile pressed onto her lips and a small fist tightening into her grip.
"I got you now you bastard..." she whispered turning away from the map sitting back at her desk and I tore the paper down before anyone could see it. I knew that Zoe was planning something and I knew I would have to figure a way to help her or something bad may happen.
