I just knocked on the door of the Cals' and Harry's flat. I was sent here to get some chili that Harry had for a video. Only Harry knew I was coming because Cal always enjoyed surprise visits from me. But I was surprised to see Ethan open the door. "Cyborg!" He said, opening his arms. "Hello, Ethan." I said, giving him a hug. He laughed. "What are you doing here?" He asked once I closed the door behind me. We began walking towards the living room. "I could ask you the same." I said, nodding. He stopped walking, so I did too. "Umm...before we go in there, you know I love you, right? And you know Cal loves you." He said, shooting glances at the door. I sighed. "Is it one of his girlfriends again?" I whispered. "No. Parents." He whispered. "I'm sorry. I forgot. I was in the kitchen with Harry and Callux when you knocked." He added quickly. "Ethan, I need to get to the kitchen, so I have to walk past them anyways. I'll be okay." I said, smiling. He nodded, sighing a little. Then, he led the way. When we we entered the room, all eyes were on me. Along with the guy I recognized a while back from when I met him at school. He was adopted by my parents. I don't even know his name, but I know he's a fan. I gave him and Cal a smile and continued walking to the kitchen. "Cyborg! Not going to give your brother a hug?" Cal asked, stopping me in my tracks. I wanted to punch him in the nose for not letting me leave. "Cyborg?" I heard my mother's snotty voice. I ignored her, along with her and my father's death glare. I went to Cal and gave him a quick hug. "Mackenzie, this is Caleb. Caleb was...uh...." He said, scratching the back of his neck. "Adopted. I know." I said. I gave Caleb a small wave. "He's a fan, so he knows you." Cal added, patting my back. I nodded. "I need to go speak to Harry." I said after a short awkward silence. "Cyborg?" I heard my mother's voice repeat and drift off as I walked away. When I got to the kitchen, I sighed in relief. "Cyborg! Long time no see!" Callux said, walking towards me with opened arms. "Why does everyone in this building call me Cyborg?" I asked, giving him a hug. "That's your name." Harry said, now getting his hug. "So, you've met your new brother?" Callux asked, smirking. "You just want to puss me off, don't you?" I asked, going to their fridge. I needed a drink. I grabbed a Coke and went back to the counter, pulling myself up to sit on top of it. "Maybe I want to see you break your hand again." He said, still smirking. "Haha. Very funny." I said sarcastically, opening the Coke. "Here's the chilis." Harry said, handing me a plastic bag with them in it. "Are you doing that?" Callux asked. "I don't know yet. I know Simon and Josh are." I said, shrugging. "You should." Harry said. "Why? I thought it was horrible?" "Oh. It was." Harry said. "He just wants to see you in pain." Ethan's voice came from the doorway. He walked in and took a seat. "Where were you?" Callux asked. "I had to answer the fucking door. Then I had to shit." He said smugly. "Didn't need to know that." I said, shaking my head, taking another drink. Ethan laughed, making me smile once more. "Mackenzie! Come here for a second!" I heard Cal's voice from the living room. I sighed before sliding off of the counter. "Wish me luck." I said before leaving the kitchen. When I got to the living room, everyone was quiet, and all staring at me. "Sit down." Cal said, patting the space beside him. I was sitting directly across from Caleb. "Show us your leg." My mother said, leaning forward on her hands, like we were teenage girls discussing the latest gossip. A wave of anger rose inside of me. "Fuck you." I said, glaring at her. She put a hand to her chest. "Don't you dare speak to your mother like that." She snapped. "How many times do we have to go over this? You're not my fucking mum, never have been and never will be. You made that decision yourself when you dropped me off at that orphanage." I said, trying to keep my voice calm and level. "We are your parents, whether you like it or not. And you'll do as we say." My father said. I glared at him. "Fuck you too." I said, giving him the finger. I barely glanced at Caleb, but regretted it as soon as I did. He looked scared. I was one of his idols, he didn't need to be seeing this. I stood up. "Mackenzie...stop." Cal said, grabbing my wrist. I sat back down, just because he wanted me too. "We need to talk this out. I'm not saying we have to get along, I'm just saying we should not hate each other." Cal said. Unbelievable. My brother. The person who knew the most about my hatred towards my parents, wanted me to talk it out with them? That just didn't make any sense, there had to be a reason. "Why?" I asked, leaning back on the couch, crossing my arms. "Your father has terminal cancer you ungrateful little shit." My mother snapped, glaring at me. "Mum, that was the type of thing we are trying to prevent, and that's not helping at all." Cal snapped right back at her. I felt a twang of something. Something like guilt and regret. As much shit as they had put me through, if they hadn't have done it, I wouldn't be where I was today. I was quiet, and just stared at the floor, trying to calm my simmering anger by bouncing my knee, something I did when I was angry. Cal out his hand on my knee to make it stop bouncing, so I just began bouncing the other one. "Look, I just want to go home." I said to Cal. "Not until we talk this out. Then you won't ever come here again if you knew I was trying to get you to talk to them." Cal said. My phone started ringing. It was Simon. "Hello?" I answered it, standing up. But cal grabbed my wrist again, pulling me back down into my seat. "Where are you? Everything alright?" He asked worriedly. "Yeah. Everything's fine. I'm just hanging out with everyone for a bit. I'll be home in like an hour or so. I love you." I said quickly. "Love you too. Bye." He said before hanging up. They were probably about to record. That's probably why he asked. I put my phone back in my lap. "Listen, we are your parents. So I'd appreciate it if you were there for us in this time of need. Your father and I are ready to forgive you, as long as you're ready to apologize." My mother said. It took all the self control I had left to not punch her. I clenched my fists and my knuckles turned white. "I'm not apologizing for anything. You're not my fucking parents so stop fucking calling yourselves that." I said and stood up. I went into the kitchen, my blood boiling. I avoided everyone's eyes and went back to my spot on the counter, breathing heavily. "You alright?" Harry asked, not moving any closer to me. "Nope. But I've already put one damn hole in your wall. I doubt you guys need another one." I said, my fists still tightly clenched. "What are you still doing here then?" Ethan asked. "Because the chilis were in here and I don't want to have to walk past them again." I admitted truthfully, now staring at the ground. "Don't break anything. I'm gonna go." Callux said quickly before retreating out of the room. I don't blame him. I would run away from me too, if only I could.
