"Hello guys! Today, me and the rest of the Sidemen and I think maybe Cal are going somewhere that I'm dreading, but I must do it. We're going back to my old orphanage. That is right people, if you didn't know I was adopted. Anyways, I will talk to you guys when we get there or in the car." I said to my vlogging camera as I walked down the stairs, Karmyn on my hip. I leaned up against the railing of the stairs. "Let's go guys! I want to get there before everyone else!" I yelled up the stairs. Today was an open day, and I've heard the place has grown. "I'm here. I'm here." Simon came down first, jogging. Then Vik. Then Josh. Then JJ. Then, we left.
I sighed as I looked up at the scary building. I had never thought I'd see this place again. But I had got to thinking about Miss Riley and how much I miss her, so I just had to come. What everyone didn't know is that I was planning on donating a lot of money to this place. A lot. I didn't want the other girls growing up here to have broken school desks and dripping faucets. I heard a squeal and looked over and smiled at Karmyn. There was a hand placed on my back. "Ready?" Simon's voice whispered beside me. "Nope." I said, but found myself taking a step forward. Everyone was waiting on me to go first. Everyone. As soon as I walked in, my blood churned. So many horrible memories were brought up. I looked over at the reception desk to see the one and only Miss Riley lift her head and look at me, open-mouthed. "Mackenzie?" She finally asked, a shaky, weathered hand slightly covering her mouth. Simon smiled at me as he pulled Karmyn from my arms. I slowly nodded at Miss Riley. "Oh, dear! It's been too long!" She said, walking around the desk to greet me with open arms. She pulled away and smiled at me, looking me up and down. "Honey...your leg." She started, reaching a shaky hand out. "Car accident." I shrugged. "I saw you on the TV a while back. That must mean everything worked out, right?" She asked. I nodded, smiling. She hugged me again. "I always told you it would." She said, pulling away again. "Miss Riley, I would like to introduce you to someone." I said, turning around to grab Karmyn from Simon. I placed her on my hip and turned back a round, my heart pounding. She was like a mother to me, what would she think about me being a teen mom? She put a hand on her mouth before removing it quickly. "This is your child?" She asked, not looking at me. "Yes ma'am." I smiled. "She's beautiful." She said, a smile forming. I mentally sighed in relief. "Now, shall we go see all of the girls?" She asked, beaming. I sighed, but nodded. She turned on her heal before walking away, towards the main room. As I walked in, I felt sadness. I had spent so much time in here. I had played so many video games here. There were a few girls sitting around the same old TV, but only one in particular caught my eye. I handed Karmyn to the closest guy, which happened to be Harry. He immediately gave her to Tobi. That boy wouldn't know what to do with a dog, let alone a kid. I went and sat down on one of the couches, keeping my eyes on her the entire time. She finally looked up from her phone and glanced at me. She did a double take before her jaw dropped. I looked her up and down. I could do this. "Mackenzie?" She asked. I slowly nodded. "Hello, Kaleigh." I smirked. "What are you doing here?" She asked. I shrugged. "Figured I'd come say hi." I said, eyeing her. She stood up, so I did too. "So, you're big now? Super famous? Got the perfect house and a perfect family. Got a beautiful daughter. The perfect boyfriend." She said, crossing her arms. I sighed. "He's not my boyfriend. And I didn't come here to argue with you." I said. She put her hands up in a fake defense. "I'm just stating the truth. Where's that lambo I saw you in? Where's the swegway?" She smirked. She knew she was pissing me off. "Kaleigh, one of the reasons I came here was to forgive you so we could both move on with our lives." I sighed. She was quiet for a moment. "You think you can just come in here and make everything perfect again? You think you can come in here and rub everything in our faces?!" She asked, her voice rising. I glanced over to the guys, who were all staring at me, waiting. "That's not at all what I'm doing, Kaleigh!" I yelled over her. I looked back at her to see her with tears in her eyes. "Just because you're living the perfect life, doesn't mean everyone is! Believe me!" She yelled, wiping her now falling tears. She put her hands on her eyes before she sobbed once and removed her hands. She looked up at me. I sighed and opened my arms. "Come here." I said. She looked hesitant at first before running towards me. You would've thought that we were best friends, if you didn't know why better. The last time I saw Kaleigh, I broke her nose. The first time I saw Kaleigh, she was a scared twelve year old with a yellow dress on. She wrapped her arms tightly around me, like we were actually best friends. "Y-you actually forgive me?" She asked. I laughed lightly. "I'm sorry for making your life hell. I'm sorry for hating you. I'm sorry for being such a bitch. I'm just so sorry." She wept as we hugged. I had never hugged Kaleigh, but there's a first time for everything. Soon, we both pulled away and she wiped her tears. I gave her a sad smile. And looked up to see everyone staring at us. There were girls here that I had never seen before, and some that I had grown up beside. I smiled. "Omg! The Sidemen! Mackenzie! Cal!" A voice said in the back. A fan. Wow. She pushed her way to the front of the crowd and looked at us in awe. "Hello." Harry said, waving at her. She looked like she was about to faint. That was me just a year and a half ago. "What's your name?" I asked, bending down slightly to get to her level. "M-Marissa." She said, her eyes wide. I stuck my hand out and shook her gently. "You used to live here?" She asked. "Yep. Sure did." I sighed, looking around again. Her jaw dropped even more, if that was possible. "That reminds me, Miss Riley, I have a gift for you." I said, walking towards her while getting the check out of my back pocket. This donation would change these girls' lives. I handed it to her, smiling. She looked down at it, realizing what it was. She didn't even say anything, just wrapped her arms around my neck tightly. "I can't believe you would do this." She said, pulling away and resting her hands on my shoulders. "Why not? You and these girls deserve it." I said, smiling at her. "You sure you can afford this?" She asked, her mouth still gaping at the check. "Don't worry about me." I said as she took the check out of my hands. She hugged me once more. "I love you." She whispered before pulling away. I looked around once more. This place gave me hell for three years of my life. I hated it here. Hell, I didn't want to be here now, but that didn't matter. What matters is my life is good now. My life is perfect now.
