Chapter 17

~DAY OF THE WEDDING~

Kortnii's POV

I looked around nervously, trying to find mom's veil. It was the day of the wedding. THE ACTUAL DAY! But I was so depressed, I know I shouldn't be selfish and I'm happy for my mom I really am! I looked under the table for the fifth time. My mom was so nervous, I couldn't even imagine what Frank was going through. Probably Hell, I thought to myself. She searched around frantically until she said, "I FOUND IT!"

A wave of relief swept over me as she put the veil on her head. "Sarah, you look so beautiful!" Aunt Helena said. Mom smiled and replied, "Thank you sis, it makes me feel so better." She was right, mom did look gorgeous, her long black hair in waves and make up just right. Unfortunately for me, I had to dye my hair back to my original color, black and take out all my piercings for this special day.

By now Mrs. Shirley and Scarlett were in the dressing room, already dressed up. My mother ushered me to the make up room and a lady with short brown hair plucked away at my eyebrows and quickly did my make up.

I gasped in the mirror, I looked...different. I wasn't used to the pastel eyeshadow and thin line of eyeliner. My long black hair was curled and my dress was on, I felt weird. I wasn't used to all this commotion. I vow to never make this big of a problem for my wedding.

I walked back into the dressing room and put on my purple high heels. My mother fixed her dress in the mirror. I couldn't believe this was happening, the day I have been awaiting/dreading. At this moment in time, I was happy. More happy than I have ever been in my life. "Mom" I said but I couldn't continue. The tears that were welling up in my eyes had begun to fall.

She smiled at me, "You look so pretty Kortnii. I am proud to call you my daughter." I smiled weakly at her as the wedding hymn began to play. Scarlett, my cousin Ira, and I took the end of her dress as Aunt Helena escorted my mother outside.

The beach looked beautiful today, it was sunny and a little windy but all around great weather. There was rows of white chairs and a red carpet in between to separate them. At the end of the beach, right in front of the water, was a big white tent, with a priest underneath. Frank was at the right with Aiden, and two other men I didn't know.

Mom walked up to the front of the isle as the little flower girl, Eileen (Frank's neice) sat in the front chair of the row. After they said the vows and it was all said and done, it was time for the reception. We drove to a building that Frank and my mother rented out. It was a big ballroom with white tables all in a circle.

I sat down at my assigned seat and rested my head on the table. "Hey Kortkat!" Aide said, sitting next to me. I guess we had to sit together, I really didn't care. "Are you okay?" He asked, rubbing my back. I looked up at him, "Why did you have to ask me that?" A tear rolled down my cheek and he wiped it away with his thumb.

"I'm happy for my mom. After all she's been through she deserves a good man like Frank. I like Frank too." Aiden hugged me and said, "I agree, Sarah is so nice my dad deserves a good lady like her. My mother wasn't the kindest to him." I laughed softly and pulled away just as I saw a girl with Blonde and black hair walk up. "Oh shit" Aiden muttered.

Before I could ask what's wrong the strange girl ran up to Aiden screaming, "Baby!" BABY?! I thought to myself. Who the fuck does she think she is! "Rebecca get off me! I'm your brother for christ's sake!" My eyes got big as I whispered, "What the fuck?"

Rebecca turned and glared at me, "He is mine, you can't have him!" I stood up and said, "Shut the hell up that's your brother! How could you possibly be attracted to him like that?!" She then grabbed a vase of flowers off the table and through them at me. I ducked my head and screamed, "YOU PSYCHO BITCH! I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!"
