Lapis returns from being under the sea. How will she react to seeing Peridot since the incident with Jasper?

Peridot's P.o.v
"Ta Da" I said as I tried to give Lapis the gift I spent a week looking for
Lapis stared at me with a death glare that spoke so many words. I didn't understand why she was acting like this so I moved closer. As I got closer I felt a wave of sadness and anger overflow me like it was radiating off of her.
"Um..here you are supposed to take it and say wow thanks"
I gave her a sheepish smile as I held it even closer to her.
"I even wrapped it in your favorite color"
Lapis clentched her knuckles turning them a light blue.
"So are you going to take it or what"
Lapis looked down at the floor for a minute then began to shake, I was confused by this gesture so I got even closer to her which was a big mistake.
"Are you okay, Lapis"
Lapis stopped shaking and began laughing but it wasn't the type of "That is a funny joke" laugh, it was a differnt laugh that I couldn't idenify.
"Lapis I-" Just as I got a bit closer I felt a sudden pain and next thing I knew was I was in the grass a couple of inchs away from where I was standing before. I felt my swollen cheek as I tried to figure what happened.
"NO, I'M NOT OKAY AFTER ALL YOU PUT ME THOUGH YOU WANT TO DRAG ME THROUGH THE SAME THING OVER AGAIN. WELL NOT AGAIN NOT ON MY WATCH"
I looked at Lapis's eyes and felt it and saw it, pain. The time they threw her in the mirror and I didn't do anything about it or the time I promised her that I wouldn't let them do anything to her.
"Man why do I always have to piss off the pretty ones" I thought
For the first time she looked at me. I saw her eyes as streams of tears fell off her cheeks on to the ground. Pain was felt in my heart when I saw Lapis like this and I was sick of seeing her like this. I got up from where I was, slowly easing my way to Lapis to see if it was safe. Lapis fell down as she continued to break down into tears. As I walked closer to her I felt a firm grip then coldness. I looked down and saw Lapis holding on to me as she cried into my shoulders.
"After all of these years, of course she would turn cold"
I held her close, stroking her back to comfort her. Pearl actually showed me this technique when she was sleeping, well actually I was just staring at her gem. I sighed as I continued to stroke her back.
"I'm sorry Lapis if I wasn't being such a clod then maybe you would still be happy amd you wouldn't be like this"
Lapis crying began to slow down as I felt her wramth return ever so slightly. She let go of my body as she sat and watched the sunset. I sat down with her as we both watched the sun go down.
"Peri"
I blushed when she said that name because she hasn't called me that in a long time.
"Yes"
"You are lucky I thought twice about killing you" She said as she gave a warm giggle
"I am lucky because I get to stay on Earth with you"
Lapis looked at me with a smile but it wasn't like the others, this time it made my heart flutter and my heartrate increase.
Is this what Garnet was talking about? It has to be because it feels so great like she described as. If this is wrong for a gem on Homeworld then I would much rather be a defect.
