Who is that girl under the tree?
I always asked myself that question when I saw her alone reading a book. She always sat quietly like she didn't have a care in the world. Being the shy one always has its perks but this wasn't one of them.
"Hey what'cha lookin at" Amethyst said as I walked beside her
"Oh nothing" I said
Amethyst knew who I was looking at because she glanced over at Sapphire then back at me. My face warmed when she began to laugh.
"Oh looks like you are looking at Sapphire again" Amethyst teased me
"So what" I said flustered
"Talk to her" Amethyst yelled
"I'll talk to her when you ask Pearl for her number"
Amethyst groaned then answered.
"Okay"
"Can you guys be more quiet I'm trying to read"
"Yeah we can't read over your loud blabbering, Amethyst"
I looked over at Amethyst although I was in shock myself. Amethyst looked like she was about to fall out while I felt like I was about to throw up. Then it dawned on me, if Pearl heard what I said then she know Amethyst likes her.
"You know them" Sapphire stated calmly
"Well....yes"
Sapphire walked over to us. I was still froze from shock and it didn't help that Amethyst was next to me stuttering in a different language.
"My name is Sapphire" She said as she shook my hand
"Y/N"
Sapphire glanced over at Amethyst who was still stuttering nonsense. I elbowed her slightly to catch her attention.
"Oh Amethyst" She said with a nervous chuckle
"Would you two like to join us" Pearl said
"Sure" Amethyst said
"But Amethyst you don't even-"
"Of course I do, a little Shakespeare can't hurt anyone"
From that day forward we would gather together at lunchtime and read. The first few times I had to read from Sapphire's book but she didn't have a problem with that. Amethyst would have Pearl read to her in whisper eventually falling asleep on her lap. Then when I finally brought a book after a couple of months of reading out of Sapphire's book so she would rest on my shoulder while reading it with me.
"So that's how the book ends" I said
"I guess even though it could of been better" Sapphire replied
I looked at the watch that was on my wrist.
"Sapphire when is Algebra"
"1:45"
"It's 2:50"
"Guess we are getting an early dismissal"
"Where did this side of you come from" I raised an eyebrow
"From you" She grinned
I packed up the books that were sprawled out on the floor then walked to the other side of the tree to find a rare site. Amethyst was laying her head on Pearl's shoulder while Pearl was laying her head on Amethyst's head.
Maybe Sapphire and I can be like that.
