Amethyst P.o.v
My insecurities were coming back to me faster than I knew they were but this time it was different. I wanted to know what was I supposed to be like so I can atleast know but I don't know to mention it in conversation without sounding insecure.
"I just want to be good"
I sat on the couch as I stared at the bookshelf which Pearl was cleaning. Pearl looked at me then blushed.
"Amethyst, are you okay"
"Yeah, I'm just thinking"
I relaxed into the couch a little bit taking in the crisp, fresh air that was blowing into the room from the window. My eyes traveled onto the window, glaring into the sea was Peridot.
"Peridot, maybe she knows"
I got up from the couch then walked out of the door making sure to be careful of the pile of trash that Pearl swept.
"Here goes nothing"
I proceeded to the empty spot next to Peridot.
"Is this spot taken"
"No, it can be occupied"
I sat down on the soft sand as my fingers made circles in it. Both of us looked into the ocean at the same time the moon was glowing. I spoke up after a minute.
"What are you doing out here"
"I am conducting in what is called star-gazing"
"Yeah"
"All of the stars looks like the same but one"
"I like that one the best"
"Peridot"
"Yes"
"How am I supposed to be like"
Peridot took a deep breath before responding.
"On Homeworld, you are supposed to be taller and more muscular"
"And"
"Mercless....a brute"
Peridot glanced down at the thin sand.
"I'm glad you are not like that"
"But I'm still a defect"
"That's why I like you"
"Huh"
"Those soliders may be loyal but you are different"
"What do you mean"
"I mean that you are sweet and kind....you are probably twice as strong as those soliders"
"You don't have to be perfect to be liked Amethyst"
I looked down at the sand because I knew if I looked at Peridot I would have began to tear up.
"Why do you hate them"
Peridot didn't answer.
"Peridot"
"They treated me and the other Peridots like trash"
"I know we are the lowest rank but we still deserve a little respect....that's why I kinda showed fear in you when we first met"
I didn't say anything.
"You are beautiful, Amethyst, you know that right"
"Never felt like it"
I was still looking down when Peridot scooted next to me. A warm hand touched my knee causing me to lift my head.
"You should because that's all I see"
I playfully shoved Peridot.
"Now who showed you that pickup line"
"The rubies on Homeworld would try to get with the Sapphires with the cheesy pick up lines and most of the time I would have to hear them"
