"Sleepover at the barn with Lapis"
"Sure why not"
Those were my death words.

Oh why did I say yes to the sleepover.
"Peridot"
I flinched back into reality when I heard my name being called. My attention quickly was directed to the woman in front of me which just in case you didn't know was Lapis. Lapis of all people to be in front of me dressed in a tank top that barely covered her stomach with a pair of shorts. I am really nervous right now but not because of this social event but because of Lapis herself. I've never seen a person be attractive and intimidating at the same time.
"Oh hey Lapis"
"I got the covers from Steven so we got something to sleep on"
we.
"We" I replied
"Well it's a sleepover isn't it"
I swear that she was thinking about killing me a month ago.
"Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden"
Lapis paused then looked at me before sitting down next to me. I've never been nor felt this close to Lapis in my life and it gives me a warm feeling. I look at Lapis trying to read her after she sat there for a minute in deep thought even though at the end I failed. We sat there in silence, it wasn't uncomfortable silence it kind of filled in the awkward gap then replaced with comfort.
"Steven told me that everything changes on earth...at first I didn't really believe him but I trusted him and he was right"
"He was"
"You've changed after all, right"
She's right.
"Peridot, you don't have to be nervous around me because I have changed too"
She's right again.
"I'm sorry Lapis"
"It's alright"
Lapis got up and began making a pallet on the barn floor next to the hole I made in the wall with my robot.
"Aren't you coming" Lapis said as she sat the pallet
"Oh yeah I forgot"
I sat with Lapis once I walked over to the pallet even if it was as hard as a rock. Instead of just going asleep, she talked about the things she talked about the things she liked about Earth. After a while I began to share some stories about how I managed to survive with the Crystal Gems. Midnight came even so we kept talking until we had to get ready to sleep because that is what people do at a slumber party. I laid on the side that would have me looking away from Lapis to give her a little privacy.
I wonder if I will continue to change.
I rolled over to see Lapis completely sleep which caused me to blush. She looked so peaceful even though she has been trapped in a mirror, with Jasper, and on Earth. My ears twitched when I heard light snores followed by Lapis shivering from the gust of wind going past.
How can she be peaceful even if there is a possibility that Yellow Diamond is going to come down on Earth to exterminate us like rats.
I placed my cover on Lapis before walking over closer to the hole to see the stars that were shining bright before I sat down. I was at the foot of the pallet looking at the stars.
Will we change to be better than Homeworld itself......will I change to be better than the Peridots that are flying around the galaxy trying to operate the kindergartens on different planets.
A leaf fell on Lapis face after another gust of wind went though the barn. This time she didn't seem affected by the wind that blew into the barn. Her nose fluttered as an attempt to make the leaf fall off her face. I took a deep look at her anterior to picking it up and examining it. The leaf was mostly brown with a little bit of green. A smile edged its way to my face as I returned to the pallet with the leaf still in hand. I gave a satisfied grunt when I decided to let the leaf go.
Maybe everything will-
I felt a pair of warm hands wrap around my stomach pulling me into a hug. Honestly, I suppressed the scream that was in my throat to a squeal.
"I can't go to sleep when you are thinking out loud Peri" She said against my ear giving me instant goosebumps
"Hehe...sorry"
Lapis giggled after releasing me.
"Whatever nerd"
I secretly wanted her to hold me like that all night.
