Chapter 20

*Olivia’s POV*

The premiere was 5 days ago and I was coming up to eleven weeks. I was looking forward to the ultrasound next week because it was sonogram so we can actually see baby this time. Josh and I were so happy and had been happy ever since we found out but even though we were dying, we decided not to tell anyone else until I was past the first trimester which is twelve weeks I believe. I was chilling at Josh’s house while Kitty was at Emma’s. Ever since Louis came up with that name it kind of stuck and everyone just kept calling her that but don’t think she really minds. Josh and I were just watching the movie when I felt a cramp rip through my belly. I winced a little which caused Josh to panic.

“Liv, are you ok?” He said clearly worried.

“Yeah I’m fine just have to go to the toilet, I’ll be back.” I replied getting up still not sure of what the cramp was. I got in the bathroom and found blood running down my leg. I saw where it was coming from. No, this isn’t good.

“JOSH!, GET HERE NOW!!” I screamed out to him.

I heard his footsteps pounding to the bathroom. The door swung open and a puffed out Josh came in.

“What’s wrong?” He said and then he spotted the blood.

“Get me to hospital now, it’s the baby” I told him trying to keep but honestly I was freaking out.

Josh ran to grab his keys while I jogged outside. I got in as he was closing the door. He ran to the car, got in, started the car and drove to the hospital as fast as he could.

When we got there, he ran to my side of the car and he led me to the receptionist’s desk of the maternity ward.

“My girlfriend needs to see a doctor now. She is eleven weeks pregnant and she started bleeding.” Josh told the lady as calmly as he could which wasn’t very calm.

The receptionist rang for a nurse to come down immediately. A nurse came through the doors less than a minute later. She led us to her room. I laid down on the bed and she hooked up some equipment and listened out for a heartbeat. When she couldn’t find one, she looked grim. She went to find another doctor. She came back with an older guy doctor he grabbed the monitor and tried to find a heartbeat. He put the monitor back and unhooked as I sat up. Josh was sitting next to me holding my hand. The doctor turned to us with a grim face.

“I’m sorry but we can't find a heartbeat” The doctor told us.

I burst into silent sobs covering my face. Josh squeezed himself onto the bed and wrapped his arms around me and held me close. I felt his tears hit the top of my head. I couldn’t believe it. I lost our baby, he or she was gone. What did I do? I failed Josh. Why was our beautiful baby gone? We didn’t even get to see a picture of the baby. Josh stood up and picked me up bridal style because I was still uncontrollably sobbing. He put me in the car and buckled me in but I still didn’t stop crying.

We got home and Josh picked me up and went inside. He placed me on his bed and came and lied down next to me. I turned to him.

“Josh, I’m sorry. It’s my fault I understand if you leave me.” I said

He looked shocked.

“Olivia Tomlinson, you are my world. I am never leaving you, baby or no baby. I love you” He said kissing my head. I placed my hands on his chest and sobbed into his shirt which was getting drenched from my tears. He wrapped his arms around me and cuddled me.

*Josh’s POV*

I can’t believe this. Everything was going so well but we lost little roo, yes that’s what I was calling the baby in my head. I can’t believe Olivia thought I was going to leave. I can’t imagine what she must be feeling. My shirt was soaked from her tears but finally Olivia had stopped crying and went to sleep. I thought about everything and slowly drifted off to sleep as well.

*4 hours later* (Still Josh’s POV)

I woke up to Olivia silently sobbing again not as bad as before but still crying.

“We have to tell them, you know. You stay here and I will invite the boys and Caitlin over and tell them. You stay here and go to sleep” I told Liv whose eyes were drooping.

She nodded at me and shut her eyes. I walked out and grabbed my phone off of the kitchen counter. I texted Liam first.

J-Hey Li, need you and the boys to come over now and be quiet when you get here. Don’t ask, I will tell you when you get here.

L-Ok we will be there in about ten minutes. Did you need Caitlin too?

J-Yeah do you mind telling her?

L-Sure be there soon

I sat my phone down and waited for everyone to get here.

*Liam’s POV*

That was a weird message. I wonder what’s going on.

“Hey boys, we have to go get Caitlin and go over to Josh’s now. He needs to talk to all of us” I told the boys who were all involved in a play fight on my lounge room floor.

They all looked up at me and pouted which made me give them the death stare and they all got up and ran to the car outside. I got my keys and followed them. We drove to Emma’s house.

I got out and so did Louis but the rest of the boys stayed in the car. We walked up to the door and Louis knocked. Emma answered and smile when she saw me but was confused.

“Hi guys, what are you doing here?” She asked us.

“Um we need Caitlin to come with us. Josh needs to talk to us.” I told her

“Ok then let me get her. Caitlin, you have to go” Emma yelled out. Caitlin came running to the door and was as confused as Emma.

“Why are you here? What’s wrong?” She asked worried.

“Josh needs to talk to all of us” Lou answered.

“Ok then” Caitlin said. She grabbed her phone and gave Emma a hug.

“Bye, text me if you guys need anything.” Emma yelled as we walked back to the car. We waved as we drove off.

*Josh’s POV*

I spent the next 15 minutes figuring out what I was going to say but no matter what it was going to be hard. I heard a car pull up in the driveway. I slowly got up and walked over. I heard a knock just before I reached the door. I opened it to see the boys and Caitlin. I invited them in and they walked in and sat down except Caitlin who stood near me. She looked worried and could tell something was up but the rest of the boys weren’t as worried. I sighed and cleared my throat for their attention. They all looked at me.

“Now you have to listen to the whole thing. We went to the hospital today because Olivia had a really bad cramp and some bleeding and we found out....that...that......we-we” I tried to finish my sentence but I started to tear up. I composed myself and finished my sentence. “We lost the baby” I said looking down. I heard Caitlin gasp and then she ran up the hall probably to find Olivia. I looked up at the rest of the boys who were all sad. Louis was crying because he had lost his biological niece or nephew. They all got up and gave me a hug.

*Caitlin’s POV*

‘We lost the baby’

I couldn’t believe it. My niece or nephew was gone. I heard its heartbeat. I can’t believe how Olivia is feeling. Where is Olivia? I ran up the hall to check Josh’s room. I found it and put my hand on the handle ready to turn it when I heard sobbing. I opened it and I found Olivia sitting up next to the bed on the floor with her head in her hands. The room was almost completely dark; the only light was seeping in from the side of the closed curtains. I walked over and sat next to her. She leaned into my and I hugged her. I was rubbing her back and telling her to calm down but I didn’t know if it would work.

The boys all came into the room one at a time to have a quick word with Olivia. Louis came into the dark room. I was still sitting next to Olivia hugging her. Louis came and sat down next to us and hugged both of us. Liv turned towards his chest and sobbed. I leaned on her shoulder and cried a bit too while Louis stretched his arms to wrap around me too. It was a nice family moment but under terrible circumstances. We stayed like that for at least an hour. Josh understood so he left us alone.
