Surprise Engagement (Poe Dameron x Reader)

"Poe why do you own so much stuff?" You said, exasperated as you threw things around his room trying to find his jacket.

"I know, I know. And the trouble is I'm never here to actually sit down and organise it properly," He laughed, running a hand through his hair.

You saw a flash of brown leather and grabbed it quickly, "Looks like I spoke too soon!"

He came up from behind you, resting his arms on your shoulders and kissing your cheek, "What would I do without you, Y/N?"

"You would definitely be drowning in this pile of clothes, Dameron," You giggled, turning around to kiss him quickly.

"Thanks darlin'," He grabbed the jacket from you and started to put it on.

As he began to walk away you saw something drop out of his pocket, "Hey, Poe you dropped something," You said slowly, picking up the box that had fallen to the floor. You looked at it and raised you eyebrow at Poe, "What is it?"

"Uhh, Y/N, don't– don't open that–"
Poe said quickly.

He tried to grab it from you but you moved your hand away, opening it quickly.

"Poe, is this a ring?

He bowed his head before nodding, "I was waiting for the right to time."

"To propose...to me?"

He laughed, "Of course to you, Y/N. There's no one I love more in the world."

"Oh, Poe," You hugged him tightly. When you let go, Poe cleared his throat, "I said I was waiting for the right time, Y/N. But any moment with you is as perfect a time as ever," He smiled sweetly at you before crouching down on one knee.

He held the open box out and took your hand in his, you felt eyes start to water as he spoke, "Y/N... There's nothing I want more than to spend the rest of my life with you by my side. I promise to love and support you unconditionally...Would you do me the great honour of marrying of me?"

You saw his eyes welling up and you crouched down so that you were level with him, "Of course I will," You managed to say through your tears.

He wiped them away with his thumb before placing the ring on your finger, you grinned as Poe stood up, lifting you up in his arms and spinning you around.

When he placed you back on the floor, you draped your arms around his neck, "I love you so much Poe," You said.

He grinned, winking, "Not as much as I love you," He said, pressing his lips to yours.
