"We are all well aware that your most recent encounter with the scavenger girl weakened you."

Kylo Ren bowed his head slightly, not daring to deny the Supreme Leader. Beneath his helmet, the scar that ran across his face lightly tingled as if to remind him of the defeat.

"While you've been wallowing in self-pity I have no trace of doubt that the scavenger would now be advancing quickly under the pupilage of the Jedi, Luke Skywalker."

The name of his uncle no longer phased Kylo, not now, after everything he had done. Instead, he looked up to Snoke, "What would you suggest we do?"

"It won't be long until the scavenger completes her training. You won't be strong enough to face both her and Skywalker when next you meet. At least not alone," Snoke paused purposefully to see if Kylo would react. But instead he stayed still. "Your training is also nearing completion, Commander Ren. So in order for you to finally defeat our enemy, I have decided that it is necessary for you to take on your own apprentice."

Kylo was slightly taken aback by Snoke's order. Certainly, he knew this day was coming, but he didn't think it would be so soon.

"I have sensed a Force-user within the First Order's sphere of alliances. Entirely untrained, but a most excellent candidate," Snoke informed him.

"Who is he?" Kylo asked immediately, curious to know of the man that the Supreme Leader deemed worthy enough to one day join him in defeating the Jedi.

"A girl. Y/N."

"The Princess Y/N?" Hux, who was standing beside Kylo, asked.

"Indeed. I do not yet know if she or those around her are fully aware of her power. But I sense that Princess Y/N's potential with the Force matches that which I detected within the scavenger. Perhaps more if she is trained properly. It is therefore essential that the First Order claims her before the Rebel scum do."

Kylo nodded once, if the Supreme Leader believed that the Princess was the First Order's greatest hope in rivalling Skywalker and the scavenger, then he would not protest. Taking on an apprentice would surely develop his own knowledge and awareness of the Force too.

Snoke continued, "Clearly, our new alliance with the girl's home planet is proving most useful already... Ren, if she is ever to become a suitable partner in your eventual battle against the Jedi, then you must bring her here and commence training immediately."

"And has the King consented to this?" Hux asked.

"His consent is irrelevant. Y/N is critical to the cause and as supporters of the First Order, neither the King nor his advisors can forbid it!" Snoke was getting frustrated.

"B-but Supreme Leader, because Y/N is of royal blood, her family wouldn't dare approve of her being trained in the ways of the Force, least of all the King–"

"And as I have told you, General, the King has recently formed an alliance with the First Order," Snoke stated, sitting back on the throne, "He would not jeopardise this partnership."

"Then what incentive does the King have to offer his only daughter to the First Order?"

Kylo had had enough time to ponder the idea of training the Princess, whom he was yet to meet. He finally spoke, "Perhaps if he willingly gives the Princess, we won't slaughter his entire Kingdom," Kylo huffed, "What other incentive would he need?"

"No, no. We need to assure him that his daughter will be well looked after. We cannot have him and his entire planet resent the First Order. This agreement must be more stable. More... binding." Hux said, sounding as if he was thinking aloud.

"What might you suggest, General?" Snoke inquired.

"...Marriage," Hux announced.

"What?" Kylo snapped.

Hux ignored Kylo, instead directing his words to the Supreme Leader. "The Princess should marry the Commander as a sign and guarantee of the First Order's commitment to her training. The King will be assured of Y/N's protection here... and the satisfaction that his daughter will one day bare the heirs of Kylo Ren himself," Hux sounded pleased with himself when he finished speaking, knowing that Kylo would hate the idea.

"Don't be ridiculous," Kylo said through gritted teeth, "I will not submit myself to such an idiotic plan."

"Then how do you propose we secure the Princess as your apprentice? She isn't going to come willingly, and you are no match for the scavenger and your uncle combined. You need someone to fight alongside you."

"Enough!" Snoke exclaimed, "The General is right. Marriage will secure the Princess' loyalty to you, both as her mentor and husband, and of course, to the First Order."

"But her father, the King, has already sworn his allegiance to you!" Kylo was growing increasingly more frustrated now, "What further good can a union between her and I do?!"

"The bond between a mentor and apprentice is intricate, sacred even. You will take that and use it to develop Y/N's power such that it compliments your own," Snoke started, "The girl is young and naïve. As much as we are in need of her talent, I will not risk her being enticed by the Light as it entices you! Your union with the girl will ensure that she remains firmly pledged to the First Order and its cause."

"If her family have already aligned themselves with our cause then why not let me train her without marrying her first? She may have an inclination towards the Dark in a way that I did not when I first began my training. At any rate, the union will mean nothing if neither of us willingly consent!" Kylo was shouting now. He understood the importance of acquiring an apprentice, but was dumbfounded at the idea that he would have to marry her first.

"Then consider this marriage a further sign of our political agreement with the Princess' family," Snoke suggested, being uncharacteristically patient with Kylo. "It is necessary to ensure the protection of the First Order and its interests."

"And what if she is called to the Light anyway? A political agreement will mean nothing if she is still seduced by the Jedi," Kylo sneered.

"Oh stop it, Ren," Hux spat, "We're not asking you to fall in love with the girl, you just need to train her. Develop her power so that when the time comes, she will help you to bring victory to the First Order. If you can do that, she will have no reason to join the scum in the first place."

"I will personally dissolve the marriage after you bring the First Order success against the Jedi and the Resistance. This is merely an assurance that the Princess will complete her training with you as her mentor," Snoke stated.

Kylo sighed as he began to accept that there was little likelihood of the Supreme Leader changing his mind about this. Finally, Kylo gave a small nod, "Then for the good of the Order, I will do it."

"So it is decided. Kylo Ren will be married to Princess Y/N, and will commence her training immediately," Snoke announced.

Hux gave a nod of approval while Kylo remained quiet. Trying to process the sheer consequences of what he had just agreed to do.

"You and the General will travel to the Princess' planet and deliver my decree to the King. I expect you back with the girl in no longer than two days from now."

"As you wish, Supreme Leader," Kylo said before striding out of the room.
