Her First Words (Ben Solo x Reader)

Note: This is an AU if Ben hadn't joined the Dark Side

"Can you say 'Mama'?" You asked your daughter as you took her out of the high chair and held her on your waist.

She gurgled a bit, picking up a few strands of your hair and tugging on it.

"Okay darling, let's not pull Mama's hair that hard," You laughed, gently pulling your hair from her grip.

"She's got her Daddy's strength, don't you princess?" Ben chuckled as he wrapped his arm around you.

You smiled, you didn't hear Ben enter the room.

Ben returned the smile and kissed your cheek, "What have you two been up to today?"

"Trying to get Y/D/N to speak," You grinned, "But someone isn't ready to learn just yet," You said in a baby voice as you kissed Y/D/N on the cheek.

Ben smiled, "What's the matter sweetie?" He asked Y/D/N as he carefully took her from you.

He held her out in front of him, "Can you say Dada?" Ben asked with an amused look, "Dada?" He kept repeating himself when he realised it was making your daughter laugh.

"I don't think it's happening tonight, Dada," You grinned, "Come on, let's get this little lady to bed."

"We made such a cute kid," Ben smiled as he looked down at your sleeping girl.

"Hmm she's got her Daddy's genes," You nudged him.

Ben waved his hand, "Oh please, she takes after her beautiful mother."

You smiled at him, "C'mon, let's go to bed," You said before kissing your daughter goodnight.

The sound of wailing woke you up suddenly. You shot up, rubbing your eyes.

"Dada!" You heard your daughter calling over and over again and you burst into a grin.

"Ben!" You shook him gently, "Ben, wake up!"

He groaned, "Hmm what's wrong?" He asked sleepily.

"She's saying her first word!" You said excitedly, taking his hand, "Come on!"

You led him to Y/D/N's nursery and Ben immediately picked her up, trying to comfort her as she cried.

"Dada," She whimpered quietly.

Your heart melted at the sight before you.

You saw Ben's own eyes start to water as your daughter's tears began to stop.

"Dada," She said again.

"That's right darling," Ben smiled as he shifted her to his waist, "Dada's here."

Ben rubbed his nose against hers and she started to giggle.

You walked over to the two of them, "Oh I'm so proud of you, princess!" You said to her, ticking her under her chin.

Ben laughed, "You realise this means she loves me more, right?"

You hit him playfully, "Or maybe she's saving the best for last."

Y/D/N extended her arms out to you, "Dada!" She said as she flashed her beautiful smile at you.

You exchanged a look with Ben before laughing as you took her from his arms.

"No, sweetheart, I'm Mama. Can you say Mama?"

"Dada!" She clapped her hands as if she knew what she was saying still bore significance.

"Sorry, Y/N," Ben said as he stifled a laugh.

You shrugged, "I can handle being called Dada," You said, "As long as she knows I'm the better one," You cooed, kissing Y/D/N's forehead.

"'Course you are, love," Ben grinned, giving you a one armed hug and kissing your hair.
