"WHERE IS MY HUSBAND?" You screamed as another contraction ripped through your body.

"He's on his way, My Lady," a Knight responded calmly from your beside, "He left as soon as we told him."

You winced, clutching to the rails of the infirmary bed as you waited for the contraction pass. Six hours into labour was starting to take its toll on you—especially when your unborn child was Force sensitive.

You hoped Kylo would return from his mission soon, you needed him to get through this—no matter how annoyed you were that he had gone on a mission a week before you were due.

As if on cue, the door opened and you looked up hopefully.

"Y/N?"

You breathed a sigh of relief as you saw Kylo rush into the room. The Knights dispersed immediately, leaving so that it was only you, Kylo and the doctor in the room.

"You...said...you...would...be...gone...for...a...few...days!" You managed to say between sharp breaths.

"I know, but the mission took longer than I expected and I—" Kylo stopped when he saw you scowling at him. He removed his helmet to reveal a solemn expression, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have gone."

"It's fine, you're here now," you huffed, trying to focus on steadying your breathing as the contraction continued.

"You're in so much pain," he mumbled helplessly.

"Why, thank you for noticing," you said through gritted teeth. Though in truth, you felt slightly better now that he was finally here with you.

Kylo let out a sigh before crouching down to be eye level with you. He gently brushed his hand against your cheek, "What can I do, love?"

"Anything," you whispered, sounding desperate this time.

Kylo's heart broke at the sound of your voice. An idea came to his mind and he quickly cleared his throat, taking a seat beside the bed, "Take my hand."

"Kylo..." you started, unsure of how this was going to help.

"Just take it," he urged you calmly. You gripped his hand and immediately let out a content sigh as you felt the pain drift away.

"H-how are you doing that?"

"I'm making you think you're not in pain," he replied, sounding proud of himself.

"Surely that must be tiring for you?" You asked. Now that you could no longer feel the pain, you were up to having a normal conversation again.

Kylo smiled and reached down to kiss your hand, "That's not for you to worry about."

You stayed like that for a while longer. Kylo began to whisper sweet nothings to you as he tried to take your mind away from everything that was going on.

"Um...C-Commander?" The doctor sounded nervous to have to interrupt the comfortable silence that had come to pass between you two. Kylo looked up expectantly.

"It's time for the delivery," the doctor told you both as two more nurses entered the room.

Your heart rate quickened at those words and your gaze met Kylo's. "N-No, I can't do this yet!" you said in a panicked voice, the pressure of what you were about to do suddenly dawning on you. Though you had been in labour for nearly seven hours now, you didn't feel nearly as prepared as you wanted to.

"You can, darling," Kylo said, shifting slightly in the seat.

Your eyes widened, "Please don't go anywhere!"

Kylo laughed, squeezing your hand reassuringly, "I'm not leaving your side."

You nodded, your breathing becoming too shaky for you to muster up a verbal response. All the while, Kylo remained calm, his hand still in yours as he kept the pain at bay.

As the doctors started to prepare for the birth, your grip on Kylo's hand tightened.

He could sense your nervousness, "I love you so much, Y/N."

"Good," you breathed. Kylo laughed as he kissed your hand again.

"Ready?" The nurse asked you.

You looked at Kylo, who gave you a reassuring nod before you turned to the nurse, "Ready."

...

"We made a cute baby," you said happily as you saw Kylo cradling your newborn son in his arms.

"We certainly did," Kylo chuckled.

"Thank you for helping me through it all."

"I should be thanking you for giving birth to our perfect son."

"He is pretty perfect," you said teasingly, though you meant every word of it. A moment of silence passed between you as you both admired your baby.

"I love you too, by the way," you finally said.

"Good," Kylo grinned before reaching over to kiss you softly.
