Hailey

The mini van came to a stop, and i swallowed my anxiety.
I looked outside of the window and saw a tall block of buildings, then the man in the front seat got out and walked in there. He is a bigger built guy, so he must be the security.

After a few minutes he came walking outside again, but he wasn't alone...
By his left was a tall blonde haired guy, and he was fairly good looking if i do say so myself. That must be Caspar.

And to his right was a smaller guy, with dirty blonde hair.. I instantly recognised him as Joe.
But i didn't only recognise that.
I noticed how he hadn't really grown in the past eight years, and how his mannerisms hadn't changed by the way he used hand actions to explain things to Caspar and The Security guy...

Throughout high school Joe got all the girls, he was spoilt for choice, so i couldn't blame him for not choosing me. Well, i never told him i liked him. He was the best looking in our year, so most girls were all over him.
But now... He's obviously got a girlfriend. I mean; he's gorgeous. But i guess im well over him now, i just have to keep it professional.

The security guard slid the door open and Joe and Caspar stepped up and sat down in front of me, then the security guard closed the door.

I watched as both of Joe & Caspar's heads turned to look at me, as if to say 'who are you'.

'Act like you don't know joe' i told myself.

'Hi Joseph and Caspar, i'll be your tour guide for the next couple of weeks!' I grinned, shaking both their hands, avoiding eye contact with Joe.

'Hello, what's your name?' Caspar asked in a strong south african accent.

'I'm Hailey' i smiled, quickly glancing at Joe.

As i said my name Joe's eyes widened like he'd seen a ghost.

'You can just call me Joe, Sleet- sorry, i mean Hail.' He chuckled.

It's like i never left high school. Joe was the class clown, always making stupid Jokes, i guess people really do never change on the inside.

Caspar elbowed Joe in the stomach and smirked back at me.

'That was very rude Joe- i'm sorry about him Hailey.'

Joe started fake crying and apologizing, and it was like all of the tension was gone, my anxiety in the pit of my stomach had disappeared. This was great, if i felt myself around them; i could do a better job.

The van came to a halt and we all emptied out, and stood outside of a huge pristine building.
I stood there, taking it all in. This job can only get better and better.

We all walked inside with some people dragging the luggage along with them. When given our room keys i found out my room was next to Joe and Caspar's, this could be interesting.

I opened up my room, and locked the door behind me, i let go of the suitcase and jumped onto the bed.

After a while of lying on the most comfortable bed ever, i sat up to take in my surroundings. Next to the king-size bed was a set of drawers, and over on the far wall was a patio door that led out onto a balcony.
I stood up and looked around, noticing the on-suit bathroom; which had a bath and a shower. Also, on the opposite wall from the bed was a large wardrobe.. I'd never felt more at home.

Then it hit me, that with all of the commotion i'd forgotten where i actually was.

'Siri, where am i?' I spoke into my phone.

'Your current location is Brighton, Hove' he replied.

I'm in Brighton!!

I threw my phone on the bed and ran over towards the patio doors. I eagerly unlocked them and walked out onto the balcony. I stood there in the slight breeze, inhaling the sea salty air, mixed with fish and chips.

I looked out and in the distance you could see the beautiful pebble beach that everybody falls in love with.

I can already tell that i love this job.

Caught up in my own thoughts, i notice something out of the corner of my eye moving. I turned my head so fast i could have gotten whiplash.

Joe was standing there on his balcony next to mine, watching me and chuckling at me. How long had he been there?

I laughed as i thought of how stupid i must have looked, and my face burned; i must have gone red.

'Don't worry- i don't blame you acting like that. Brighton is such a lovely place..' He said, looking out at the sea in the distance.

'Yeah, it seems like it' i smiled to myself.

'He must remember me now' i thought.

'When you've unpacked you can come grab some lunch with me and Caspar if you want-' he asked. '.. Get to know you better'.

Oh. I guess he doesn't remember me then..

'Sure, i'd love to'.
