I take a deep breath in as my eyes scan up the tall glass building planted in front of me.
My nerves are at an all time high. I have put so much time, effort and will into this interview and this interview only. I hadn't put any applications into any other jobs because this one filled my every hour.
I spent long hours filling out personality quizzes, questionnaires, and possible scenarios to the point where I better be hired on the spot.
If this job were to fall through I have no clue what I would do, this is my only hope at the moment. The job as the CEOs executive assistant pays well and there isn't too much work but the only downfall to it, is that I have to be avalible at all times which is conflicting because I have two young children in daycare that I still need to be there for.
That was my issue for the other three jobs.
I let out a long awaited breath, pray for the tenth time today since exiting my car and enter inside of the building. I am instantly intimidated by just the atmosphere and interior. Everything is a sleek and crisp black and white. All white walls, black ceiling, white sparkling tiles, black leather coaches, and thick white acrylic desks.
I confidently walk up to the desk and the blonde sitting behind it instantly smiles up at me. "Good Morning Miss Kavanaugh. The boss won't be out of his meeting for about another five minutes or so but if you would like you could wait for in the lobby on floor fifteen." I polietly smile and thank her before making my way back to the elevators.
A herd of people are crowded around the elvators and I can instantly point out the difference between them and I. All of the men and women are wearing all black and white suits and business attire while I'm dressed in a bright orange blazer and black dress. As we stumble onto the elevators, I get multiple stares, glares and looks from the workers thrown my way. Thankfully the ride is fast and I am one of the last people off so I can avoid as many stares as possible.
As I make my way over to the waiting area, a lady wearing an all white suit makes her way over to me with a bright smile. "Hello Miss. Kavanaugh, may I take your coat?" I nod and she walk around me to assist in taking my blazer off and placing it on a metal coat rack just beside the desk. "The boss will now see you, just go straight through the glass doors on the end of the right hallway." I thank her and walk down the hallways. I turn right and a set of shaded, white glass doors sits at the end of the hallway.
My heart lurches foward in my chest and my breathing stops for a short second. I haven't been this nervous since giving birth to my children and I feel like I was a little more at ease then than I am now. I begin to take babysteps foward until Im faced with the door. I raise my shaky fist and lightly knock on the door three times.
"Come in." The tone and depth of his voice pushes my nerves to a whole new level. I slowly push the door open and notice a man sitting on top of a desk staring out the window with his back towards me. "Take a seat." His finger points to a white leather couch and I am quick to follow the direction of it and take a seat. He hops off his desk and picks a file up, but keeps his head down as he scans through the various papers.
"So Miss.Kavanaugh- wait, what?" his head shoots up immediately and it takes me a few seconds to process that it's actually him.
"Harry?" we stare at one another in complete disbelief. I haven't seen this man in five years and I hadn't planned on seeing him anytime soon. He quickly takes the seat next to me and straightens out his tie. "What- why are you here?" I look him dead in the eyes.
"I need a job." he shakes his head and strokes the thin stubble that's clouding his chin with one hand. "I thought you were becoming a model or something like that, at least that's the last thing I heard." I nod my head and sit up straight on the sofa. I look around the office admiring the percise detailing and decorations and find my way back to Harry. "Aren't you supposed to be interviewing me for the job?" he picks up the folder from the right of him and begins skimming through various papers.
