Scorpius

"Hey," I hear. I'm eating breakfast and I look up to see the face of Rose. She smiles at me and then sits next to me. "I'm sorry for everything, Scorpius. I was terrible," she says.

I sigh. She sounds pretty sincere. "S'alright," I say looking at her. "I'm sorry too," I say. I shouldn't have yelled at her. She was probably just trying to be nice.

"I mean it, Scorpius. I am sorry," she says looking me in the eye. Her icy blue eyes are startling. "You can talk to me if you want."

I know what she's talking about. She's letting me know that I can talk to her about living in my house.

"I probably won't understand," she says. "But I'll help in anyway I can."

I hate it when people say, 'don't worry, I understand,' because they don't. I appreciate that she is only saying that she'll try to help me if she can.

I'm not sure if she can though.

I can't escape all the memories. How could I tell her without telling the stuff that's happened there? Answer is: I can't.

It happened every once in a while, kind of like this.

Dad tickles me. I can barely breathe.

"Dad! Stop! No! No! Dad stop! Haha stop!" I scream as he tickles me mercilessly.

"Never," he whispers in my ear. I can't stop laughing.

I manage to slip from his grasp and I run. Dad chases me into the backyard yelling, "I'm going to get you!"

After a while we are both out of breath. We head back inside.

We are each having a butterbeer when I ask, "dad? Why don't you leave the house at all? Why don't you go see your school friends or something?"

His eyes widen. I've said something wrong.

The weight of the war crushes on my father who never fully recovered.

"Draco?" my mom asks, entering the room.

"No!" she screams and then looks directly at me. "What did you do to him?!"

"Nothing," I reply, scared.

"Lair!" she screams. "You are a liar, Scorpius! Lair, liar, lair!"

"I swear," I say. "I didn't do anything I--"

"Do you like looking at him like this?! Is it funny?"

"No!" I say. "Of course not!"

Her hand slaps me right across the face. She looks me in they eye as I hold the side of my face that she slapped.

"Why are you here, Scorpius?"

And then she leaves.

"Maybe later," I say, Rose nods.

James, Albus, Alex, and Emily now sit across from us.

"Hey guys," Emily says.

"Are you guys excited?" Albus asks out of the blue?

"Excited for what?" I ask.

"We have flying lessons today," he says smiling.

***

Rose is a natural when it comes to flying. Her broom flies up into her grasp before she even says "up." On the other hand, it took me a long time. Albus was on the left side of me and to the left of him, Alice, Kendall's twin. They looked almost the same. On the right of me was Rose.

"How'd you do that?" I ask when her grasp tightens around her broom.

She laughs. "I don't know."

I look at Albus who is also struggling. He looks pretty concentrated but nothing much was happening.

"I'd like to inform you, Albus Potter, that your cousin, Rose, is most likely cheating," I say. "No, seriously dude, look at her."

"I'm not cheating," says Rose, slapping my arm playfully.

"You're cheating?" gasps Alice. "I hope you're not cheating either, Albus."

"No!" shout Albus, a little to loudly. Then it happened.

When I was looking away, my broom shot into the air, hitting my arm in the process. My arm flew into the air and my broom was still flying up. I managed to grab a hold of it, I was on my toes with both my hands straight in the air. If it'd gone any higher I wouldn't have been able to reach it.

"Good Lord," I say, pulling my broomstick down. "What the bloody hell was that for?!"

Rose, Albus, and Alice burst into laughter. I see Kendall, Louis, and Fred, who are not standing far away from us, smirking while the rest of the class just kind of stares at me.

Alice's broom flies up into her grasp.

"No difficulties? Good," I say giving a thumbs up. She laughs.

"I'm having difficulties," says Albus. Then he yells, "Professor! I think there's something wrong with my broom!"

"Silence, Potter!" shouts Professor Redmond. "Your broomstick is fine!"

Professor Redmond is a rather scary-looking lady. She has brown hair in the style of a bob. She parts her hair on the right side and keeps a little tiny ponytail in the front of the left side of her head with a small elastic. Her once beautiful brown hair is now streaked with gray and not kept very well. Her lips aren't very symmetrical. Her bottom lip is more to the left than the top. Her nose is rather large and hooked. Her eyes are the scariest-looking part of her. Her eyes are naturally cross eyed and looked as if her bulging eyes were to bulge any further they'd bulge right outta her eyelids. Her eyes are an ugly green and around it, what should be white, is red. She also has many wrinkles.

Professor Redmond it between middle-aged and old. She was very ugly. Very, very ugly.

The side of the broom closest to Albus swung upward. It managed to swing up behind him and hit him in the back, sending forward. I helped Albus up after he'd fallen onto his face. He had some dirt on his face and looked pretty stunned.

"No difficulties?" I ask after I help him up. "Good," I say with a thumbs up before he can respond.

"Loads of difficulties," he mumbles, pushing my hand down. I laugh at him and so do Rose and Alice.

"Be happy, Potter, if I'm correct your uncle got much worse," she says with a little smile.

"Alright, alright!" she shouts. "Time to get on with your flying lesson!"
