Stare down the cliff to my decent
Into the deep end
The monsters under my bed won't seem to leave me alone
They sleep inside of my head
Deceive to leave but they won't

Get Scared by Demons

Rose

I notice the familiar scent of antiseptic and hand sanitizer, the cool air against my skin, and something very uncomfortable digging into my back. I slowly start to wake up.

The closer I come to consciousness, the louder the voices become.

"... I will."

"Ron you can't."

"I'm going to find whoever attacked my daughter whether you like it or not, Harry!"

"Ron, you know I want to also but we have nothing to go on. How will we find them?"

It was quiet for a long time until I heard the quiet words, "I don't know."

I open my eyes and see Dad and Harry in the corner of a very white room. My vision was blurry but once it was good again I was able to figure out that I was in a room at St. Mungo's.

As a kid I was amazed by St. Mungo's. I thought it was so great how they were able to heal everyone. When I got older I lost my interest when I learned that sometimes they weren't able to heal people. I had never imagined myself being here and that made it even more boring.

Dad and Harry seemed to have dropped the topic of finding the witch who'd attacked me and started talking chocolate frogs.

It is sometimes hard to believe how immature they are. These are the people who defeated Voldemort? This makes me smile but the smile came with a terrible pain in my head. I heard a ringing noise in my ears and my head felt like someone was pounding it with a hammer from the inside.

Dad and Harry immediately turn around to look at me when they hear me groan.

"Rose!" exclaims Harry as Dad jumps out of his seat and pulls me into a bone-crushing hug. Dad didn't actually hug me all that hard but since I already feel like my bones have fallen apart, you could imagine it was quite painful.

I wince and Dad pulls away and quietly mutters, "Sorry."

Harry looked like he was about to hug me but then thinks better of it and just clears his throat and says awkwardly, "Your ribs are still healing. Don't want to hurt you."

Dad quickly writes on a piece of paper and uses magic to make it into a paper airplane. He sends it out the window and only moments after it had flown out I heard a loud noise, much like a snapping noise, outside my room. Mom walks in and I know that noise was her apparating here and the paper airplane was how Dad told her to come.

"You're awake!" Mom exclaims, taking a seat next to me on my very white and uncomfortable bed.

The sudden sound of her voice had made my head hurt sharply but died down once she had sat down beside me.

I smile at her and then asked, "How long was I out?"

Mom frown and hesitantly answers, "We found you three days after you were attacked and brought you straight here. Because they hadn't been able to treat you three days after the incident it made healing you a lot more difficult. You were still unconscious for two days when you were here."

I sat there trying to process what I'd just heard for a while and stayed quiet until I realized, "School started three days ago!"

"Two days ago," Harry said. "You were attacked three days before term started."

"Are you sure?" I ask and Harry gives a small nod.

"I need to go to Hogwarts now," I say looking up to everyone in front of me with a desperate expression but they all just looked down sadly.

"You have to stay here for another week so you can heal completely," Dad says.

My mouth opened to say something but I was interrupted by Ginny barging into the room with a mug in her hands.

"I'm so sorry! We had ran out of raspberry so I had to go out but can you believe that the tea shop in Diagonal Alley doesn't sell raspberry tea anymore!? I had to go to one of those muggle markets and they didn't have much of a selection but they had raspberry tea! Thank god they had raspberry tea! I don't know what I would've done, how did we even run out of raspberry tea in the first place? Rose is the only one who drinks it!"

Ginny sat down on the end of my bed and handed me the warm mug. The first sip I take is small and it makes my pounding headache a little less painful. I thank her.

I normally drink my tea black and when I take my first sip it tastes sweet.

"It's very sweet," I state.

"I added some honey," she says. "I thought you might like something other than the usual black tea."

I smile at her and continue to sip my tea. I love raspberry tea.

"Can I send Albus a letter, to tell him that I am awake?" I ask them.

"Yes," Dad says. "But we need you to answer a few questions first about your attack."

"Do you remember being attacked?" Harry asks.

I only remember some small parts. I remember how the witch who attacked me hissed, 'crucio.' I remember lots of pain. I remember falling and the sight of blood, but I had no idea where it had cone from.

"Not really," I say. "Only little parts."

"What do you remember?" asks Mom. She looks me straight in the eyes. I look down at my hands before I reply.

"All I remember is that they used the cruciatus curse on me. I remember being in a lot of pain of falling. I also think I saw blood."

Harry looked down and Dad asked, "Do you have any idea you attacked you?"

I shake my head. Who did attacked me?

"What did they look like?" Dad asks.

"I don't kn--"

"Stop asking her so many questions, Ron," cries Ginny. She then turns towards me and asks, "Do you remember anything at all about the person who attacked you."

I think for a moment before replying, "I think it was a woman." It had to have been a woman. As raspy and low as the word crucio had been, it was too high-pitched to belong to a man. I guess it could have but I was just guessing. I also didn't think it was a child. A child would most likely not be performing the cruciatus curse. The voice also was filled with hate causing there to be a great stamina. I guessed that it was probably an adult because if this.

They all nod.

"Lastly, Rose..." Mom begins. "Do you know why you were attacked?"

This confused me a lot. Why was I attacked? I thought up ways why someone might want to attack me but they didn't make sense or just didn't add up. My thinking causes my head to start hurting again. It was a dull sensation at first but I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my head. I winced and brought my hand up to my forehead.

"Are you okay?" asks Harry.

"Yes," I say. "It's just that I don't know."

"That's okay," Mom smiles. "I'll go get Peleg so you can write to all of your friends!"

Everyone leaves the room.

The pounding in my head started to go away and I start to lean backwards, so I can rest my head against the wall but something catches me.

I freeze when I feel two hands covering both my eye.

"Guess who?" says a voice and I immediately recognize it as the witch who'd attacked me.

Her laughter fills my ears. The deafening sound takes over me. I can move. I just can't do it.

"We got your owl Rose!" exclaims Harry as he opens the door.

I open my eyes and suddenly realize no one is covering them and there is no sign of anyone in my room.

My mind must be playing tricks on me.
