« CONFRONTATION »

A few days passed and Lillian and Ron hadn't interacted with each other at all. She was still in good terms with Harry and Hermione even if it was now kind of awkward and tense between them, and at some point, Lillian would rather stay completely alone and not have Harry or Hermione come to her to make it look like everything was completely fine.

Because it wasn't.

And instead of attending classes this morning, Lillian stayed at the Black Lake, secretely working on her spell that kept getting better and better, even if it didn't bring her any joy at the moment. Under normal circumstances, Lillian would never skip class except if she was sick —or pretended to be, but not when she was in an argument. Though, this time, it felt different, as if she was not strong enough to sit in a room with her bestfriend, knowing she had lied to him and didn't have the courage to admit it.

And, as she was about to write a letter for her parents, weird noises made her jump up, the blonde looking all around her to try and find the origin of the sounds. Of course, Lillian couldn't be left alone for more than two seconds and she rolled her eyes when she saw Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle come her way.

"Becoming a full-time rebel now, Henderson," Pansy said laughing, "You should be careful, you might not pass your OWL's if you stop coming to classes."

"How about you get out of here and leave me alone?" Lillian answered.

"Why should we? This place isn't yours you know?"

"It isn't but if you came here to annoy me, you can go see somewhere else."

Pansy smirked, crouching in front of Lillian, "By the way, where are your friends? You seem quite lonely, maybe they finally understood you're really just annoying."

Lillian narrowed her eyes, debating whether or not she should walk away, because, to be completely honest, she didn't have the strength to take in any insults that this girl would throw at her face. She already had enough going on with Ron at the moment and she didn't want to get into any more trouble with a stupid girl from Slytherin.

"Well, are you going to answer or not?"

"Shut up," Lillian blurted.

"You know, you shouldn't think that everyone loves you, actually I am sure a lot of people find you obnoxious."

Even if this little remark hurt her feelings considering her current situation, Lillian let out a low laugh, "I hope you know this applies to you as well, Parkinson."

The Slytherin girl stood up on her feet, stepping back until she was in between Crabbe and Goyle, "By the way, I am sure Umbridge will be glad to know that you were secretely working on a potion a few nights ago."

And before Lillian could say anything, she had vanished, letting the girl alone and wondering what punishment the old toad would have in store for her.

+ + +

Dear mom and dad,

I think I'm in troubles. You know how much I love working on potions? Well, someone from the Inquisitorial Squad caught me working in the classroom during the night, and I think she is going to tell Umbridge.
I don't know what will happen to me but I thought I'd tell you now because I might not be able to write for a few days if she uses the same punishment as usual.
Besides that, I think everything else is okay.

I miss you, Lillian.

As usual the owlery was empty as she let the black owl fly out, bringing the letter to her parents. She considered staying in case they would respond right away but after careful consideration, she remembered they were both probably working, therefore she should wait at least until tomorrow.
