« THE RIDDLE »
Ron, Hermione and Lillian were running after Harry, in the Entrance Hall's large staircase. They had to push past panicked students who were running the other way, Lillian holding strongly onto her wand. She couldn't afford to lose it now.
"Harry!" Ron shouted as Harry came to a halt, "Hermione and I have been thinking. It doesn't matter if we find a Horcrux."
"What do you mean?"
"Unless we can destroy it," Hermione answered.
"So, we were thinking—"
"Well, Ron was thinking," corrected Hermione, "It was Ron's idea, it's completely brilliant."
"You destroyed Tom Riddle's diary with a basilisk fang, right?" Ron said, Harry nodding, "Well, me and Hermione think we know where to find one."
"Okay," Harry said, pulling something out of his back pocket. The Marauder's Map, "Okay, but take this. That way you can find me when you get back."
Harry turned to look at Lillian, "What about you?"
"I'm going to help secure the castle," she explained, "We need to get rid of the dementors and my Patronus can come in quite handy."
Harry nodded silently, his eyes glued on the girl. He was now scared to leave her alone, as he knew Ron and Hermione were together. Lillian sensed the fear in his eyes and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry, I'll find you once I'm done helping here."
"Be careful," he said, turning around.
"Where are you going?" Hermione screamed.
"The Ravenclaw common room! Gotta start somewhere."
And he ran up the stairs as the three remaining friends shared scared looks. Ron swallowed harshly, not ready to leave Lillian wandering alone in the castle. He knew she could defend herself, she was an excellent witch and had proven many times in the past that she could easily fight off powerful wizards, but he knew anything could happen and he would hate himself if something harmful ever happened to her.
"Don't do anything stupid, Lilli," Ron warned.
"I won't," Lillian said, "Be careful you two."
She winked and ran off, going to the Clock Tower, knowing it would be one of the best places in the castle to face the dementors as efficiently as possible.
The place was already crowded with witches and wizards who were preparing to protect the castle's grounds. She noticed dementors flying through an arch and she took a deep breath, walking past Remus, Tonks and her father with her wand pointed in front of her.
She remembered the ghost of her beautiful mother, in her living-room a few months back, as a reassuring warmth tickled her from the inside.
Remus and Henry, on the other hand, had their eyes wide open as they stared at Lillian preparing to repel dozens of dementors at once. They knew she was a brilliant witch and they knew she had learned this spell.
