( THE EPILOGUE )
The cracking sound of the wood burning echoed inside the empty house. Family pictures and furnitures had been taken down and Lillian had stored some of her most precious family belongings in the Weasley's barn, right next to the Burrow.
Lillian was sitting cross-legged on the parquet flooring of her living-room, in front of the burning chimney. Seven letters were placed in front of her. Each one addressed to someone who had died and had helped her at some point during her life.
The young woman exhaled slowly and delicately threw each letter into the fire as she observed the paper being consumed. She stared at the names written on the envelopes, Fred, Remus, Sirius, Henry, Ellen.
She didn't get to have a look at the final two letters, as they had been consumed quicker than the others.
Lillian gazed at the flames in the fireplace, listened to the destruction of the wood, and she was mesmerized. The growing flames created a ceremonial atmosphere, somehow bringing the Henderson's home back to life, and Lillian's face glowed under the resplendent shadows of vivid orange and red.
Calmly, and with her eyes still glazing at the fire, she stood up and walked out of the house. In the distance, Molly and Ron could be seen welcoming Hermione and Harry near the Burrow's sand path, as they exchanged warm embraces.
Lillian pointed her wand towards the house and took a deep breath. She closed her eyes and patiently waited for her heart beat to slow down.
When she opened her eyes, she was ready.
"Incendio."
The front door flared up and, little by little, Lillian witnessed every single wall, window and pieces of the roof be destroyed by gigantic flames as clouds of smoke were spiraling above the house that used to be Lillian's safe place and held some of her dearest memories.
And she stood there, until the house fell into a pile of ashes.
. . .
Many members of the Order of the Phœnix had gathered at the Weasley's home for a well deserved feast.
Obviously all the Weasley's were there, as well as Hermione, Harry, Neville, Luna, Seamus, Dean, Fleur and some Hogwarts teachers, including Slughorn and McGonagall. Some music was playing and the newly adults were dancing and singing, overall enjoying some peaceful time all together, in the backyard.
Lillian was clearly tipsy after swallowing galleons of butterbeer and turnip wine during dinner and she almost fell down on her face as she stumbled back inside the house to fill her glass with some water.
She had danced with George, bringing a smile back on his face as Lillian's presence always seemed to cheer him up, she had debated all sorts of things with Dean and Seamus and she had teased Ron about his lack of beard before he had snapped and engaged a fight, which she had definitely lost.
