Really long authors note: As many of you would know, i intend for this book to become a novel. A Novel can be written in any time frame, anything, ranging from 1 week, to many many years. Between school, and sports this will be difficult to achieve, but I will try my best. With most publishing companies, you cant have already shared the whole story with someone for free, so i think that most of the chapters will be posted up here, but as i near the end of my writing, i will stop posting, and to find out the end you would have to wait for a printed copy. But that time is many, many months, maybe even years away, so please keep reading and enjoying the book so far, and of coarse comment/ vote/ fan!
Chapter 9- Roadside
Idly slipping from the seat of his saddle was Castor. His virus filled arm was cradled against his stomach, and he held the reins of his horse in the other. Luckily it had been his left arm to get hurt, and not his right or else he would have been in an even bigger predicament. Castor winced in pain each time the horse took a step in its easy lope across the plains of the Ariluse back country.
The Ariluse back country. One of the few dangerous places that were left on Kapontralyn. Know to be filled with all sorts of beasts, the Ariluse back country is a place to be feared. Ruthless hunters, and diminishing prey have led these beasts to prey on others, or even worse, humans.
Some have venom so potent that it could kill you with a single drop. Some are night hunters, while other prefer to stalk you through the tall grasses of the open prairies.
*
The first set of hours into the trip were quite uneventful. There wasn't even much chatter. Both Sam and Castor sat silently on their horses, heading towards Silveround. Upon coming too a small stream, Sam slowed his horse, and got off. He knelled down in front of the stream, and splashed some of its cool water onto his face. It was nearing noon, and the sun boar down on them with hot and persistent rays. Sam then wiped the sweat from the back of his neck. He then looked over at Castor. Castor was trying quite miserably to get down from his horses back. Seeing his friend struggling, Sam went over to Castor, and helped him down from his horse. Castor yelped in pain when his arm collided with his horses flank. Castor stumbled over to the stream, and as he began to drink from it, he saw something move.
Across the stream, something had moved. It hadn’t been very sudden, and it only happened once, but yet, it moved. Shaking his head slightly, Castor stood up, and clambered back onto his horse. Sam and Castor continued to ride their horses, but every once and a while, Castor looked back over his shoulder to see if anything was following them.
