So, hopefully this chapter is a bit longer, and hopefully you all enjoy it. :)
Chapter 3- Companionship
Lying in the thick, lush foliage of a long grown grassland just as it came into season was where you could find Sam the next morning. His brown eyes were closed, and his head was rested in the crook of his elbow. There was a steady breeze, and when it blew, it lifted Sam's hair up off of his forehead and out of his eyes. He was sound asleep, and quite content to remain so.
Down on the shores of a nearby creek, Castor was perched on a large sandstone rock. It seemed to have been there for a fair bit of time, the lines of coloured sediment that adorned its insides were rather thin; meaning it had been above ground for quite some time.
Castor was staring down into the shallow water of the creek that lay flowing in front of him. The water was crystal clear, and coating its bottom was pearly white sand. Every once and while, Castor would see a minute fish swim by, looking helpless without the safety of its school.
He sat unblinking for several minutes, deep in thought, until he began to blink rapidly. The water int he small creek suddenly became bright orange. Castor looked up, away from the water, and noticed the sun creeping its way over a distant hill, making its mark as the beginning of a new day.
Castor stared into the bright ball of ultra violent light as it streaked across the sky, staining it scarlet and marigold. The thin spindles of cloud that were in wisps on either side of the rising sun turned burnt orange in the glare reflecting off of the earth. Castor reached up a hand to shield his eyes, for the light was so bright it had began to give him a headache.
Standing up from his sitting position, castor stooped down low, and leant over the creek. He made a cup with his hands, and filled it with water. Instantly the water froze his fingers, and trimming to himself, he stood up and walked over to where Sam lay sleeping in the grass.
Standing above Sam, castor poured the freezing water onto Sam's face. He jerked awake, and a shudder ran down his spine. Whipping the water away from his face, he sat up and looked over at Castor, who was doubled over in laughter.
"what was that for?" Sam asked Castor, beginning to laugh himself.
"That my friend, was your wake up call," he told Sam, still laughing slightly. "Now let's get moving, I don't want to be stuck here all day."
"Where are we headed to today?" Sam asked while shaking all of the stray water droplets from his hair.
"I was actually hoping to head into the village of Amarack," Castor replied casually. Then continued with, "I was hoping that we could pick up some supplies before we get going."
“So we have a plan?” Sam asked excitedly.
Castor laughed at Sam quietly, then said, “Yes Sam, we have a plan.”
“Finally!” Sam smirked at me, exaggerating his point.
Last night, even though we hadn’t really talked, we had forgiven each other for the dispute. You could even say that we were now companions, more or less friends.
