Chapter 14

James pov

I dumped Thalia that day. The day me as Michelle became friends again. We act like nothing happened around each other. A fresh start. Her smile reaches her eyes and her laugh is loud once again. She has returned to the Michelle I fell for.
Right now I'm helping her pack for spring break as she is going to spend some time with Eldon. Normally I would be angry and slightly jealous but she's made it loud and clear that they're just friends so I'm cool with it. Although I have no say so.
Michelle promised that if I help her pack she'll pay for lunch but I'm not gonna let her pay.
We have loud music playing in the background as we pack. Seeing Michelle so loose once again is great. She's singing and dancing its quite hilarious.

"Okay I think I'm all packed" she says after 1 hour. I don't know why it took so long. She's only staying for a week but oh well we had fun.

"I can drive you" I say as I put her bags in the boot of her car.
"Nah its alright really " she tell me. "Now lets get lunch. There's a nice diner just a couple blocks down. Walking distance if you're keen"
"Yeah all good" I smile. She smiles back and we start walking to the diner. For once it's not a awkward silence between us. Just two past lovers walking in silence. It's nice. I smile to myself
"What are you smiling about?" She nudges me slightly with her elbow. She was staring at me?
"Oh nothing" I laugh. I remember a quote I read from a book one time. If two lovers can remain friends its either they were never really in love or they still are
Kind of like our situation. She basically admitted it and I clearly did but we just left it there. I kinda don't want to push it either. We're in a really good place right now.
"James?" Her voice snaps me from my thoughts.
"Huh? Yeah?"
"We're here"
I look up and see a cute little diner. Very cosy and it looks friendly. I open the door for Michelle and she walks in and we take a seat. A waitress walks past us and smiles before heading back into the kitchen.
"What will you be doing for spring break?" Michelle asks looking up from the menu.
"Moping around waiting for you" I smirk. She just laughs.
"Here you are" the waitress hands us a strawberry milkshake with two straws. I look at Michelle with a confused look.
"We didn't order one?" She smiles
"Oh I know. It's on the house, you guys are just so adorable" she gets all gushy. Michelle and I just laugh it off. I wonder what she's thinking.
"I'll just leave y'all alone now" she smiles and walks off.
"You can have it" I tell her.
"No its fine, we can share" she shrugs. I smile to myself.

We laugh and joke around over lunch for a good 2 hours, just enjoying each other's company. We decide to leave the restaurant and head back so Michelle can get to Eldon's before dark.
