Michelle pov
I just stare at her as she steps into the booth and sits opposite me. At least it's not James but honestly she's no better.
"So what's everyone ordering?" The waitress asks us. This is gonna be a long night.
James pov.
After a couple days of persuading Thalia I'm a changed person she finally agreed to date me. I don't actually like her but she's distracting me from Michelle even though she's Michelle roommate and only friend here.
I look a Michelle and she's clenching her fork she tightly her knuckles have gone white. She won't remove her deathly glare from Thalia and Thalia just avoids any form of contact with Michelle.
This is gonna be a long night.
About a hour into our meal Michelle excuses herself to use the bathroom. It's takes a few moments for Shane to move and he doesn't even acknowledge her as she walks past. He's got no clue what he's doing.
Thalia's gaze follows the direction Michelle went in and she sighs. I roll my eyes and make small talk with Shane. When I question him about Michelle he just shrugs. Great boyfriend he is. When she finally arrives her eyes are red and slightly puffy. She's been crying. Without realising, I stand up. She and the other two look at me with a odd look. I clear my throat and sit down.
Shane shuffles over so he is opposite Thalia and Michelle takes a seat in front of me.
Thalia and Shane get involved in a intense conversation leaving out Michelle and I. Normally Michelle and I would sneak off and go far a long walk or something. As I'm about to make to suggestion I remember that we don't go out. I sigh and she looks at me for a moment before going back to picking the corners of the menu.
"So" she says loud enough for me to hear "what happened to your football dreams?" She's asks bored like not removing her attention from the menu
"I uh didn't get offered the scholarship" I say disappointedly
"What a shame" she says with a little emotion "you literally put everything on the line for it" she trails off slightly.
"Yeah" I say quietly
"Yeah" she repeats barely audible.
