*Next morning*
-Alexis's P.O.V-
-beep beep beep-
There goes my sleep again. I woke up my body cold, because I was missing the warmth of my bestfriend. I looked at my clock, it was 10 a.m . Of course it was the weekend.
Niall must've left early, so he didn't meet mom and dad by any chance.
-Grrrrrh-
What's that sound?
Okay, I know its embarassing, but my stomach's empty, so haha, don't blame me.
I quickly did my business and walked out of the room. Normal girls, whose parents work, usually have offs on weekends, but mine? They never do. They get offs very rarely. Absurd. I still have no clue what job they do, that makes them work so much.
I walked down the empty staircase, making my way into the kitchen, only to find Austin, and mom sitting around the table, talking.
"She definitely had to react like that, I mean it was afterall my mistake." Austin, my so called dad spoke.
"Yes, I- oh hey Alexis, good morning baby." Mom said, putting some eggs in Austin's plate.
"Goodmorning Alexis." Austin greeted me.
"Mom, what is he doing here? And where is dad?" I asked, not caring if I sounded mean or anything.
"Dad's at work, I have to go late. Um, Alexis why don't you sit and talk to Austin baby," Mom said.
"I'm sorry Alexis, let me make it up to you." Austin spoke to me.
"I'm talking to Mom,not you, I don't even know who you are, I'm sorry I can't talk to you. Atleast not right now." I said, before storming my way out of the house, as the cold wind blew against my skin, sending shivers down me.
"Damn it, its cold. I should've worn a coat." I said to myself.
I was walking, god knows where, just where ever my feet took me.
I may have walked a few miles, that I reached the city side. I seen a cafe in front so I decided to go there.
As I entered, I heard someone call out my name.
"Alexis! Over here," Natalie, my bestfriend waved from the back.
I smiled and walked over.
"Hey," I greeted her.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Erm, just kinda had a rough morning, so I just stromed my way outta home, to wherever my feet took me." I said, not making eye contact.
"Sit, tell me everything." She patted the chair beside her.
I nodded and sat down.
"Can I erm, get a coffee first, and maybe some thing to eat, I'm starving." I said.
I stood and made my way to the counter but took an about turn back. Realising, I had forgotten my wallet at home.
"Damn it," I said sitting down.
"That was too quick?" Natalie said.
"Uh, no I kinda, left my wallet at home. I'm cashless." I said face palming.
"Wait, I'll get it for you." Natalie said and stood up.
"No,no its fine..you don't have to." I said.
"Shut up, you're my bestfriend, I can do anything for you." She said and smiled.
"Thank you. I owe you." I said.
She held my shoulder and smiled.
About 5 minutes later, she came with coffee and pancakes.
"Here you go.." she said placing it in front of me.
"Thank you." I said, taking a piece of pancake.
"Now tell me." She said.
"So well, I was at Niall's after you left, and like we were playing some video game and mom calls me up, and asked me to come home as fast as I could." I said taking a deep breath and sipping on some coffee.
"And then...?" Natalie asked.
"When I got home, I saw mom, dad and a stranger sitting in the living room. And I was in total confusion. Mom asked me to follow her and she took me upstairs, and then told me that the man sitting out there is actually my biological father." I broke a little. Tears formed around my eyes.
"Oh Alexis, This must be so hard for you." She said hugging me sideways.
"I thought I could, maybe try and talk, but I couldn't and like..I locked myself in my room and didn't come out until this morning. And oh well, he hadn't left. So I kinda, stormed out, to find myself here." I completed the whole story.
"Your reaction was well, obvious you can say, you don't expect someone to just show up as your dad one random day, and you are left with no choice but face him, but.." Natalie sighed.
"I think you should talk to him," she said.
"Natalie, you too?" I asked trying not to believe that she too thinks that I need to talk to him.
"I know...I know you're gonna be mad, but try? You know people change. You never know why he didn't make it a point to meet you all these years. He may have his reasons? Atleast try once, there is no harm. If he isn't convincing then you don't have to do it again." She said.
Maybe she is right.
"Okay, I'll try..." I said.
"Good. Now finish that pancake soon, you're tempting me." She said.
I giggled.
After finishing, she walked me home. Maybe it was time to face him.
I opened the door. He was still there, all alone this time. Mom probably left for work.
"Alexis," he said as I entered slowly.
"Okay, Let me get myself clear. I'm giving you one chance, that's it, if I cannot handle it, I'm sorry." I said.
"One chance, I promise you, you won't regret letting me explain." Austin said.
I nodded.
