New Begginings

Chapter 6

I walked downstairs, mainly because I was hungry. My dad was sitting on the couch, crying. He never cried, the last time he cried was when my mom died.
"Haily, please come over here." My dad sniffled.
I walked over and sat down next to my dad.
"Yes?" I asked.
"I have some really bad news hails."
I nodded.
"Did Kindel finally leave!" I said excitedly.
"Haily, this is not a joke. Jake died this morning. He got into a really bad car crash." My dad said.
"What!" I yelled. I started to cry.
"I'm sorry haily. If a miracle happened, and he was miraculously still alive, I would allow you to go and see him, but...." My dad started to trail off.
Then the door bell rang. I ran to it, because I knew who it was.
"Jake!" I yelled as I opened the door. He opened his arms, and I jumped in.
"Haily?" My dad said.
"Yes dad."
"What is Jake doing here?" My dad asked.
"We set this up, so we could continue to hang out." I said smiling.
"Mr. Springfield." Jake said walking into my house.
"May I take your daughter on a date?"
"Only if the dog likes you." My dad said. I then left to go find the dog. When I found him, I brought him to Jake, and put him in Jake's arms. The dog started licking his face.
"Sir, I gave this dog to you... I even trained it." Jake said smiling.
"Haily go get dressed, I need to talk with Jake."
I then went up stairs, and put on my cutest shirt, and the pants that make me look skinny. When I was walking down stairs I heard the boys talking.
"Yes sir" Jake said.
"If you hurt my daughter I will shoot you" my dad said
"Yes sir" Jake said again.
"If you get her pregnant before she graduates college, I will shoot you."
"Yes sir."
I didn't want anything to get out of hand so I continued to walk downstairs. I spotted Jake and went to sit on his lap. I hugged him.
"Hey daddy." I said.
"Go" my dad said.
I got off Jake and went to the front door.
"Hey dad, where are my keys?" I asked.
"I don't know" my dad said.
"Are these it?" Jake said holding up my keys. I ran to him, and jumped trying to get the keys. But Jake moved back, and caught me in a kiss.
"Not on the first date!" My dad yelled.
"It's not the first time" I yelled as I ran out the door. Jake drove me to a coffee shop, I have never been before. Jake covered my eyes, and took my hand and walked me in. When Jake took his hand away from my face my family all jumped out and yelled
Happy 18th birthday Haily
"Oh my gosh! Thank you guys!" My cousin Danny then walked over to me, with Danielle.
"Haily! I haven't seen you in forever." Danny said.
"We saw each other at Danielle's ultrasound. So that was four months ago. Not that long ago." I said
" true. But we have some good news haily." Danielle said. I smiled. Good news on my birthday is always good.
"Danny and I are engaged!" Danielle shouted.
"Congrats" I started to say, but Jake pulled me into the back room.
"Sit" he said.
"Ok?"
I then sat down on the couch behind me.
"I need to show you something." Jake said as he closed the door. Jake then started to take his shirt off.
"No! Jake, no!" I yelled.
"Haily, just look at my back." Jake shouted. I looked at his back. Which had a long scar and little cuts around it. I looked up at Jake.
"What happened?"
"Do you remember how I told you my mom died of cancer, when I was eight?" Jake asked
"Yeah? What does this have to do with that?" I said.
"She didn't die of cancer. Chloe did what she knew. She saw her whipping me, so she tried to shoot an arrow over her. But my mom got up, and it went through her heart. I'm not meaning to ruin your birthday, but I felt like I needed to tell you."
"I understand." I said.
Jake walked over to me, and sat on the couch.
"I feel as if our relationship is stronger than ever, no more secrets." Jake said taking my hands.
"I don't have any."
"Haily, I've known you since we were two. You have at least one."
"I....I want to be like Danielle. You know, I want to know what it like knowing you are responsible for a little person." I said looking down, so Jake couldn't see my face.
"Haily, I will make that happen. I promise, but not yet... Not now." Jake put his hand on my chin, and raised my head, so we were face to face. He then smiled when he saw me looking. We then hugged, and then he kissed my cheek.
"Haily dads- what did I just walk into?!" Kindel said barging in the room. Then my dad walked in. He looked directly at Jake.
"With me now!" My dad yelled.
