Serve your family with this delicious pineapple upside-down cake - a traditional dessert.
-Ingredients:
1/4 Cup butter or margarine.
2/3 Cup Packed Brown Sugar.
9 Slices of Pineapple in juice {from 14 oz can}, drained.
9 Cherries without stems.
1 1/3 Cup All Purpose Flour.
1 Granulated Sugar.
1/3 Cup Shortening.
1 1/2 Teaspoons Baking Powder.
1/2 Teaspoon Salt.
3/4 Cup Milk.
1 Egg.
-Directions:
Step 1: Pre-heat the oven to 350 Degree Fahrenheit.
Step 2: In a 9 inch square pan, melt the butter in the oven.
Step 3: Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over melted butter.
Step 4: Arrange the pineapple slices over the brown sugar.
Step 5: Place the cherries in the center of each pineapple slice.
Step 6: In a medium sized bowl, beat the remaining ingredients together with an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly.
Step 7: Beat on high speed for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl constantly.
Step 8: Pour the batter over the pineapples and the cherries.
Step 9: Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick is inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 10: Immediately place a heatproof serving plate upside down over the pan.
Step 11: Turn the plate and the pan over at the same exact time!
Step 12: Leave the pan over the cake for a few minutes so the brown sugar mixture can drizzle over the cake.
Step 13: Remove the pan and store loosely covered.
